Lock And Load (Chicago P.D.)

Chapter 21

    After 30 seconds Kate opens the door. She looks taken aback at first but then smiles and says, "Detectives!What can I do for you?"

 I smile and say, "We just want to look around and see if we missed anything."

 She agrees and we go inside. Antonio and I go to the bathroom and begin looking around. She stands in the doorway for a few seconds and then says, "I'd hate to be in the way of everything here so I'll just be in my bedroom if you need anything."

 I nod and then go to Antonio and whisper, "I'll follow her while you check out the rest of the house." 

He nods and we exit. I rest my hand on my gun and peek through the crack in the door. I see her throwing clothes into a bag of some sort as fast as she can so I step inside and say, "Going somewhere?" 

She looks up in surprise but quickly recovers and says, "The laundromat. Someone broke my washing machine last night." 

"And you need a suitcase to take your clothes there?"

 She's about to reply when Antonio's voice comes over the radio and says, "Found the jugs. Move in!" 

Kate's eyes widen in fear and then she pulls a gun out from the mass of her clothes. I draw mine and then she says, "Put yours down right now or I'll shoot you!" 

I set mine down on the floor and say, "Kate, we'll have you in handcuffs for murder regardless of what you do to me. It's your choice to have one count of murder or two hanging over your head for the rest of your life. I know you of all people can make the right choice."

 Her lip shakes and then she holds the gun out to me. I shove it in my pocket, grab mine, and handcuff her. I then hand her over to Ruzek. Once everyone knows I'm alright we head back to the district to start our paperwork.
