Lock And Load (Chicago P.D.)

Chapter 8

I rush into headquarters and they lead me to the conference room where all of the news reporters are already set up. Roman stands just off to the side of the stage as I walk up. The room goes dead silent so I say, "I'm here to inform you of a high risk prisoner that escaped from jail this morning."

 I describe his appearance and then say, "The city is on lockdown. Everyone is required to stay indoors as we have no idea where he is but we can confirm that he is in the city as we are not letting anyone enter or exit. We ask that you lock yours doors and draw your blinds. If you've seen this man please call the police immediately. Also, if someone knocks on your door, do not answer unless they clearly state that they're the police and show you their badge. We appreciate your cooperation."

 After I finish a million questions come flying at me and the one that I hear the most is, "What else can the public do?"

 I clear my throat and say, "The only thing for the public to do in this situation is listen to exactly what I've just said and not go against it. The rules that the police department have sent out are not to be broken and are put in place to minimize casualties. If people choose not to listen they will be arrested by the police, hopefully before the prisoner finds you himself."

 Despite plenty more questions flying my way I walk off the stage. Roman and I head outside and hop in the car. We then start doing our portion of patrol on the streets. We're about halfway through our section when Dad calls me. I pick up and he says, "We just got a tip from this guy's old next door neighbor. Apparently when he went to jail he never sold his house. No one has been there since and no one else has a key to the house but she said that she just saw someone go in. We're all meeting around the corner from his place right now."

 He gives me the address and then I start driving there as quick as I can.
