"Camille, time to go." I say to her as I walk past her to the front door.
I quickly put on my coat and boots and then hand Camille her coat. As I help her zip it up and put on her boots she says, "Where we going?"
"To Mom's doctor's appointment."
I grab my purse and as we exit the apartment she says, "For your tummy?"
I nod and as we make our way down to the car Camille says, "What about Daddy?"
I smile at the fact that she's figured out that Sean has come to every appointment in the last two months and then reply. "He'll be meeting us there if work isn't too busy."
She nods, happy with the response, and then we arrive at my car. I lift her in, even if it's still a bit too much strain on my abdomen. Just because I'm injured doesn't mean I can take a break from being a Mom.
I buckle her into her car seat and then hop in myself. I start the car and pull away from the building. Twenty minutes and a deep conversation about puppies and how cute they are later, we've arrived at the clinic. I pick Camille up and then we go inside. I see Sean already waiting for us so he takes Camille from me and then I go up to the front desk. The nurse there smiles at me and says, "Laynie, good to see you. Your room is already good to go so I can take you back there."
I thank her and then Sean and I follow her back there. Once the door closes Sean sets Camille down in the little chair at the table they have for the patient's kids. I pull out the small coloring book and crayons I keep in my purse at all times and hand them to her. She then contently begins to color. Once Camille is all looked after I take a seat beside Sean and he places his hand on my leg. I smile and then we happily watch Camille.
A few minutes later the doctor comes in. I tell her about how things have been in the last month and once she has all of that information typed into her computer she performs her usual exam on me. After that's finished she enters a few things into her computer and then says, "Well Laynie, I know that you want to get back to work but I won't be clearing you for another month. I want to be sure that you're completely healed and well."
I nod and thank her. The doctor then exits. I quickly pack up Camille's things and then we leave the room. I book my next appointment and pay as well. The three of us then exit the clinic. Camille and I say goodbye to Sean and then the two of us hop in my car and head to the mall to get her enough warm clothing to get her through her first Chicago winter.
