Lock And Load (Chicago P.D.)

Chapter 2

   I walk downstairs and grab my hand gun from the bag I left at the door last night. I also grab my vest. Dad already filled out the required paper work so we just need Platt to sign it now. I eat quickly and then we leave. When we pull up to the District I smile at the memories of coming here to visit Dad with Mom and Justin and then Erin and Teddy later on. 

We quickly walk in and I take the papers to Platt. She signs off quickly. Once they're done I give them to Sergeant Fischer. He files it and then I go up stairs to be greeted by Dad. He shows me my desk and I start arranging my stuff. Someone then walks in and calls us both into his office. When I enter he says, "Laynie, this is your new partner Antonio. Antonio, this is my daughter Laynie. I trust you with her so keep her safe for me."

I roll my eyes at him and then we exit his office. As I finish setting up my desk Antonio says, "I didn't know that Voight had a daughter."

"I told him not to talk about me. Olinsky and Erin are the only one's here who would know about me. Maybe a few people downstairs too. Platt definitely remembers me."

He chuckles as the others start trickling in. When Erin walks in she drops her bag and says, "Laynie? Is that really you?" 

"Live and in person. Doesn't get better than that."

She gives me a huge hug and says, "Since when did you get here and where are you staying?" 

"I got here at 2 in the morning so last night I just stayed with Dad. I'm looking for an apartment but I'll probably just stay in a hotel until I do."

"Do you want to come and live with Jay and I until you find a place? I assure you that we are more fun that Hank AND hotels."

I laugh and say, "I'd love that. But who's Jay?"

A guy steps forward from behind her and says, "That would be me. I'm Erin's fiancé."

I give her a look and she explains everything. With that Erin and Jay go put their stuff away. When they come back the tech guy is following them. With everyone gathered Dad says, "Everyone, this is my daughter Laynie. She's Antonio's new partner."

I give a small wave and everyone introduces themselves. Then we begin our day.
