I smile at Roman and let him into my apartment. He sets the case of beer down on the counter and then says, "Want one?"

I nod so he hands me one. He grabs one for himself and then puts the rest in the fridge. He opens both bottles for us and then we go and take a seat on the couch. Camille is at my Dad's for the weekend since he insisted on giving me some time off so he could have time with his granddaughter. I agreed, knowing I should seize the opportunity even if I'll miss my baby girl. Since Roman has been over quite a bit lately I figured I might as well have him over so I can get to know him better without Camille here.

I smile at him and say, "Do you want to watch a movie?"

"I'd actually like to know more about you."

"Okay. Well, I had Camille when I was 21..."

Roman cuts me off and says, "Just stop right there. I don't want to know the Mom you or the work you because I already know those versions of Laynie. I want to know about the rest of you."

I nod and tell him absolutely everything about me. 2 hours and a couple of beers later I know everything about him and vice versa. We both take a sip from our beers and then he says, "Alright, normally I don't date people from work. Vowed not to ever again actually. But Laynie, I can't ignore these feelings I have for you any longer."

I sit there stunned for a moment and then say, "Sean, I have feelings for you too but the last time I dated someone from work it definitely did not end the best."

"I know. I say we just take it slow. We don't have to dive in head first not knowing how deep the pool is. Let's just test the waters."

I nod so he says, "Would you be my girlfriend?"

I nod and he smiles. We then turn on the TV and pick a movie. I cuddle into his chest and he wraps his arms around me.
