I shake my head at Sean as I walk through the door of our apartment. Once I've set my things down he embraces me in a hug and says, "It's okay baby. You'll catch this guy."
I nod and say, "I know, but not fast enough. It's been a week and seven girls have died. Our last lead fell through today so we're right back at square one."
He nods and we share in a quick kiss. I then go to the living room while Sean goes back to the kitchen. I sit down on the floor beside Camille and she grabs her teddy bear and crawls into my lap. I pull her closer to me and say, "How was your day at playschool monkey?"
She smiles and says, "Good. I play with Carter."
I smile at the mention of Camille's newfound friend and say, "And how was Carter?"
"She good. And then Daddy pick me up!"
I smile and say, "He did, didn't he? I bet that was fun."
She nods and then crawls out of my lap to continue playing. As I watch her I smile and can't believe that such an amazing little girl is my daughter. No matter what kind of day I've been having at work, be it good or bad, Camille never fails to make me happier. She's a truly wonderful little angel.
I'm shaken from my thoughts when Sean calls the two of us for supper. I scoop Camille up off of the floor and she laughs as I fly her like superman to the table. I place her in her highchair and then dish up some food for her. Once Camille has started eating I dish up my own food and then Sean and I begin to eat. As we eat we stay mostly silent but periodically talk about various topics. Once we're done supper Sean suggests that we go to the mall for some family time as I can tell that he knows I need to get my mind off of this case.
