Lock And Load (Chicago P.D.)

Chapter 22

    When I walk in the door later that night Camille immediately runs into my arms. I scoop her up in a big hug and say, "How was your first day of playschool?"

 "Really fun! I played all day!"

 I smile at how happy she is and then say, "So how are you baby girl?"

She smiles and says, "Good. Sean played with me all day!"

 I smile at him in thanks and then we share a kiss. Camille gets a huge smile on her face and then says, "Awe! So cute!" 

We both laugh and then Roman says, "You think we're cute boo?"

 She nods and says, "I want boyfriend." 

Roman and I both laugh and then he says, "When you're older boo." 

She agrees and then we sit down for supper as Roman cooked for us. Once we've all started eating I say, "So Camille's Dad, Steve, called me today. He wants to come and visit for a couple of weeks. When's the next time you can get that much vacation time?"

 He sighs deeply and says, "I can get time in July at the earliest but I really don't think he should come after what he's done to you and Camille. You especially." 

I ignore his last comment and say, "I can get vacation for July too." 

We finish eating supper in silence and then we clear the plates. Roman starts doing the dishes so I go to the living room with Camille and put on a show for her to watch. I then go back to the kitchen and take a seat on the counter beside the sink. After a few moments Roman says, "I truly don't think he should come."

 I sigh and say, "I know. I don't want him here either but we both had to sign a child's rights agreement when I decided to move back here."

 He sighs and says, "What is he entitled to then?"

 "He's allowed to see her once a year for two weeks as long as he sends me enough money to care for her. Camille also has to be living with me for everything to be valid." 

He nods and says, "I guess he'll have to come whether we like it or not."

 I agree and then help him with the rest of the dishes.
