---Roman's POV---

I take a deep breath as I see Dr. Rhodes walking towards me. It's been six hours since Laynie went into surgery so his being here could be really good news or really bad news.

He takes a seat beside me and says, "Laynie was just taken into a room in the ICU. Her surgery went really well but we'll have to monitor her closely for the next couple of days. Thankfully the bullets didn't hit anything major such as an organ or important artery. I had to repair some muscle and stop quite a few bleeds but it's all over now. She'll be in a lot of pain and she'll be weak. She's not out of the woods yet as she lost almost 40% of her blood, but as of how things are going right now, I'm expecting that she'll make a full recovery."

I heave a sigh of relief and then Rhodes says, "C'mon, I'll take you to her room. She'll be waking up soon."

I nod and grab my bag. I then follow him through the twisting corridors of the hospital. When we arrive at Laynie's room I immediately drop my bag and rush towards her. Dr. Rhodes excuses himself as I pull a chair up beside Laynie's bed. I hold her hand tightly as I adjust her nasal cannula so it's away from her eyes. I then place a soft kiss on her forehead.

I wait silently for several minutes and then I see Laynie inhale deeply and begin to look around the room frantically. I squeeze her hand tightly and say, "Shhh, it's okay Laynie. I'm here baby, I'm here."

She looks over at me and tears begin to pour out of her eyes. I stroke her hair softly and say, "Love, why are you crying?"

She reaches up to stroke my cheek and then says, "I never thought I'd see you again. I didn't think I'd live through that."

I take a seat beside her on the bed and we share a soft kiss. After I've wiped all of her tears away she says, "Who's looking after Camille?"

"She's still with Olive. As soon as your Dad can he said he'd send Erin or Jay to pick her up and take her back to their place. He wants an officer with her at all times, just in case."

She nods and then I lay down beside her in the bed. I carefully pull her into my chest and hold onto her tightly so that she knows she's safe.

Hey guys! Thank you for 15 700 reads! Also, thank you for being patient for an update. I couldn't write while on my pain meds as they made me tired so I didn't update as quick as I would've liked to after my surgery. You guys are amazing! -Becca
