Everyone looks up as Dad comes out of his office. He nods at us and says, "There's another girl. The address has been sent to all of you, get there right away. 14 girls with red hair in two weeks is 13 too many. We should've had this bastard after one girl."
We all nod and rush down to the garage. I throw my vest on and then Antonio and I hop in our car and begin our drive. When we arrive at our address I see that it's a motel with mostly just prostitutes roaming around. Antonio and I walk up to the body and when we arrive the girl standing there says in a thick Texas accent, "Oh goody, the cavalry is here. Get this cleaned up, will ya? It's bad for business."
Antonio shakes his head and begins to talk to the forensics people. I pull the girl aside and say, "What's your name?"
She sighs and says, "Tina."
I pull my notepad out and say, "Good. I'm Detective Voight. Now Tina, did you know the girl who was stabbed?"
"Kelly? Yea, I know Kelly. Everyone here does. She's known as the "client stealer". Ya see, if guys got bored o' the rest o' us, they'd go see Kelly fo' a few nights and then come back t' us. I don't know what she did that was so special but everyone liked her."
I nod and say, "I see. Do you know who would've wanted to kill her?"
Tina smirks and says, "The girl had it comin' fo' her. I told her that the guy was a creep and too damned interested in her hair. She told me if she refused another client boss was gonna fire her so she was keepin' the creep. Guess who shoulda listened?"
I chuckle and say, "Alright Tina, one last question. What's the name of Kelly's client?"
"The creep's name was Ray...Ray Lamonte. Yea, that's it."
I thank Tina for all of her help and then Antonio and I load up and go back to the district. When we arrive I share what I've discovered with everyone else and then we set to work doing background checks on Ray.
