I quickly grab my car keys and rush out of the apartment building. When I pull out of the parking lot I quickly drive the 10 minute drive to Antonio's house. When I knock on the door he quickly answers. We both smile and then he motions for me to come in. As I take off my shoes he says, "Diego and Eva, come on down please!"
He leads me to the kitchen and when we arrive his two kids come charging in. Antonio's posture changes and then he says, "Kids, this is my new partner at work, Laynie. Laynie, these are my kids Diego and Eva."
I smile and say, "Don't worry, I'll keep him out of trouble."
They laugh and then go outside. I help Antonio take all of the food outside and then we dish up. We all sit on the lawn to eat and then we chat for a bit and get to know each other better. His kids are so sweet and kind. After we finish eating we decide to go to the movies and see the new Avengers movie.
When the movie ends we walk out of the theater raving about the movie. We're almost out the main doors when a guy dressed in all black pulls out a gun and shoots the cashier. Antonio and I pull out our guys upon reflex and I inch closer to the shooter as he guides people to safety inside of the closest theater.
When the guy realizes that I'm getting closer to him he spins on his heel and points his gun at me. If I take a bullet anywhere near my chest I'll surely die a quick death as I don't have my vest on. I have to be smart. I keep my hands steady, finger close to the trigger while I analyze his look. Once I'm sure that I'd be able to describe him to the artist at the district I say, "I don't want to make a scene so here's my deal; you let me get to the cashier and I'll let you go."
He shoots all of the cameras in the main area so there won't be any evidence and he's about to turn and leave when Antonio knocks him to the ground. I quickly kick his gun away from him as Antonio zip ties his hands together. I take him to my car while Antonio lets the people out. I call into the district to let them know that I have a guy that needs to be picked up and a person that needs a body bag. Both crews show up quickly. I take Roman and Burges to my car and they quickly transfer him to theirs. Right before they take off Roman pats my shoulder and says, "Good call."
I smile as Antonio walks out. We say our goodbyes and then I hop in my car and drive home.

Thank you guys so much for 318 reads!
So I'm having a cover design contest as I don't like the ones that I have. The contest is for all of my stories that are not completed yet. There are only a few rules!
1. You have to have a picture tying it to the story. So for this one you could have a cop car or the Chicago skyline.
2. You must have the title.
Other than that it's up to you! Please DM your covers to me on the Instagram: dyrectioner5 or the Twitter: ballet_bball17 ! The contest closes on July 22nd! Good luck and I can't wait to see what you guys come up with! -Becca
