Halsey's POV

" Everything is going to be great, Hals. Are you excited about meeting Fall Out Boy again?" Brendon asked with a huge smile on his face.

" You know how cool it is to hear that I've already met them before?! And fuck yes am I excited! It's the first good thing that has happened in awhile. Thanks to you. The thing is, I didn't even meet all of Fall Out Boy. I only met Pete and Joe.Ugh, I can't wait to meet Patrick!" Halsey squealed.

Brendon chuckled. " Oh God. You sound like a 15 year old girl acting like she's meeting One Direction."

" What's that?"

" You don't even wanna know. Anyways, Fall Out Boy isn't the only band to be freaking out about. I'm sure you listen to Paramore. You can meet them too. I'm sure Hayley will love you."

" Oh yeah! Paramore is also signed with Fueled By Ramen! I'm so freaking excit-" She was cut off to her phone ringing. She saw Ryan's name pop up. " Hold on, I have to take this." Brendon nodded. Halsey turned her body, facing away from him. " Hello?"

" Hey Halsey. I have some bad news. I tried to tell Rose about the party tonight, tried getting her to go and stuff. Her parents are having a formal party celebrating their company thing. I tried to convince her but she hit me with the stronger shit....I'm sorry. I can't make it to your birthday," Ryan explained.

" What?! Oh come on, Ry. You've missed all of my birthdays! You can't miss this one. Brendon is inviting the bands from the company he works for. We can meet Fall Out Boy again and even fricken Paramore! Please. You have to come."

" I really want to go but Rose....This is really hard. You are two of the most important people out there. She's my girlfriend though. I have to put her first. I-I'm really sorry. Don't hate me."

" Ryan, please. I really want you to come. You are my only close friend. You're pretty much the special person in my life and that person needs to be here."

" I really can't go because Rose is my girlfriend and she's more important. I'm sorry. Happy Birthday." Before she could say anything, he already hung up.

She started to squeeze her phone out of anger. She groaned. She turned back to Brendon who was eating his food. " Looks like Ryan and his little girlfriend aren't coming to the party tonight," she sighed.

Brendon looked at her with worry. " How come?"

" His girlfriend's parents are throwing a stupid party celebrating their company thingy. It's stupid. Now, one of my closest friends from high school can't even come to my party," she frowned.

" I'll see what I can do to help."

Ryan's POV

" There, I canceled. Are you happy?" Ryan rolled her eyes at Rose and left the room. He was going to call a taxi and go back to Halsey's apartment. He heard Rose's footsteps following him.

" Why are you acting like this? This is important to my parents. Doe this even matter to you?" Rose asked, annoyed.

" Actually, it really doesn't to be fairly honest. Halsey is one of my closest friends ever and she's been going through some very tough shit lately. She wanted me to be there at her party and I've never heard her sound so disappointed. Today was her day. Now, the person she asked for personally won't be able to come to her birthday celebration. She even invited you," he scoffed.

" How could tonight not matter? My parents have been working on this company for a very long time. This is the night they get to celebrate. You should be happy for them. And Z is part of the company too. She helped with all of this shit. So you have to be at this party. Not a party that doesn't really matter."

" Her party does matter-"

" She's going to have many more birthdays to come-"

" She's going to have to care for a fucking child during her birthdays! Goddamn, why are you being- I can't even explain it. You sound like Jac!" He yelled.

She flinched. She didn't know who Jac was and now was time to explain. At least, if she asked. " Is that supposed to be some kind of insult? I really hope not because you're my boyfriend. You shouldn't be saying things like that," she crossed her arms.

" I guess you can say it is because Jac was one of my stupid exes. And she hated Halsey. She didn't like having anything to do with her even though she is my closet friend. She didn't think she was important at all, but she is. I know she's going to have other birthdays, but she's going to have bigger responsibilities to take care of. Like a son or daughter. She won't be able to celebrate like today."

" My parents won't be able to celebrate either. At least, not with all the certain people they've invited all at once."

" Are you kidding me? They can celebrate any goddamn time they want. Halsey only gets to celebrate once a year. Her life has been going downhill lately. I just really want to see her be happy. I'm always with you, Rose! Let me spend time with my friend!"

" I refuse. You're going to be at my parent's party tonight, okay? You already canceled on your close friend anyways."

" Fuck you," he mumbled, but thankfully, she didn't hear it. " I'm gonna go home. I'll see you later."

" I love you."

He ran out the door and called for a taxi, not bothering to say anything back to her. He was too angry to.

***

On the way to the apartment, he thought about Halsey's party. He might as well go. He can't even look at Rose right now without getting angry. She obviously didn't understand that Halsey is one of his closest friends. One of the only people to accept him. It made him mad. It made him disappointed. He knew she was insecure, but he didn't think he'd be restricted.

When he finally arrived at the apartment, he went to the couch and turned on the TV. He was thinking about calling Halsey and telling her that he was coming tonight. To be honest, he'd rather be at her party than Rose's party. All could've been well if Rose wasn't having a party and they could bond more.

His phone started to ring. He looked at it and saw Rose's name pop up on the screen. He rolled his eyes, but answered. " Rose, I really don't want to talk to you right now. I'm pretty upset with you. I'll be at the party, don't worry," he told her.

" I wanted to apologize. Of course you'll be at my party, duh. That's what boyfriends do. I just wanted to say that I'm sorry for making it seem like your close friend isn't important. Obviously all of them are. For one thing, I'm not a very big fan of this one, but whatever. See you tonight, love?" She asked, trying to sound innocent.

" Sadly, wouldn't miss it for the world," he said sarcastically. " You know, you could still save yourself and say that I could go. You don't have to miss your parent's party. I'm not that important to them anyways. To Halsey, I'm very important."

She chuckled. " It sounds like she needs you there because you're the father of her baby. You're not, are you?"

" Shut the hell up. She needs me there because I've always been with her through every bullshit she goes through. The one night she gets to feel loved and appreciated, obviously she'd want me to be there to celebrate with her and all of her close friends. When she asked me to invite you too, I was excited, you know that? I thought you guys could really bond."

" I thought about it for a second. Then I realized, she seems like competition and I'd rather not have that. You guys are close, but I want us closer. We are in a relationship. No third-parties are allowed."

" Who said anything about third-parties? I just want you guys to be friends. Jeez, it's like every girl I date has a problem with Halsey Evens. She didn't even do anything wrong to you personally!"

" I don't need to hear complaining any longer. See you tonight, love."

Ryan hung up. He quickly grabbed a sofa pillow and shoved it in his face. And he screamed in frustration into the pillow.
