Chapter 37: News

Ryan's POV

Peace and quiet. Ever since he hung up on the phone, he was debating whether or not he should actually go to his girlfriend's parent's party. He doesn't want to fight with Rose. His mind went back to what happened in LA. Then he thought about it again. He really should go, but he doesn't want to disappoint Halsey. 

His phone started to ring. He was expecting it to be Rose, but instead, it was Z.

Halsey's POV

She never thought about what would happen if Josh showed up at her party tonight. She tried to shrug it off and just look forward it. Just a couple more hours. Everything will be okay. She took out her phone and called her mom. 

" Hi sweetie! Happy birthday again," Marina said through the phone.

" Hi mom and thanks. Since you answered the phone, I'm gonna guess you already landed?" Halsey asked.

" Yes, just a few minutes ago. Your dad and I are gonna sign in at our hotel, then head to Brendon's house right after. I hope you're enjoying your birthday. I love you. I'll see you later."

" Okay, I love you too." She turned to Brendon who was sitting in the front driver's seat, parked. " Hey. So like, the whole party thing. You're really inviting the bands from Fueled By Ramen? Like all..?" She asked him.

He nodded. " They will love you. I mean, come ON. You're thee Halsey Evens. Who wouldn't love you? By the way, I listened in on your conversation just now. Marina landed?" Brendon asked. Halsey nodded. " Are we going to pick them up?"

" Mom said that they were going to sign in at their hotel first, then go to your place."

" All right."

Ryan's POV

" Hello?" He answered the phone hesitantly.

" Hey Ryan. I was just wondering if you were backing New York yet. I really need to talk to you. It's important. I need you to comedy the house right now if you're in New York," she said, sounding very serious. 

" What's wrong? You sound like-"

" I just need you to come to the house right now! It's very important," Z hung up before he could say anything.

 Ryan quickly went down and called a cab. The taxi driver drove him all the way to Z's house. He unlocked the door. He called out her name, but he got no reply. " Z! Elizabeth?! Are you home?" He called for her. He reached the living room and saw her sitting quietly on the couch. She was looking at the ground. She had a glass of water in her hand. " What's wrong Z?" He sat down next to her.

" I-I don't know exactly. The doctors...They said.." She started.

" What they say? Are you okay..? Please don't tell me you have-"

" My doctor said she noticed something weird going on with my blood, but she doesn't know yet. I'm scared and I just need you here. I don't care about what we fought about before, I just need you here," she set her glass down and wrapped her arms around his neck. He hugged her and rubbed circles in her back. " I've never been so scared. They said they'll let me know by next week."

" You're gonna be okay, Z. You know what, I'm just gonna hang with you tonight. I don't need to party with anyone," he smiled at her.

" Oh right...It's Halsey's birthday today and Rose's parents are having a party. I was invited to Rose's party. N-No, I think you should go out. I think you should go to Halsey's party though. It seems more important because Rose's parents are just celebrating," Z said. 

" But she started to get really upset when I told her about Halsey's birthday. That's why I don't know what to do. Rose is my girlfriend, but Halsey is a high school and very close friend. I haven't celebrated her birthdays with her in awhile..Or ever, really. I can't miss this."

" You go then. I'll handle Rose. I think it's just jealousy. I think I need to start getting ready anyways. Rose's parents need help setting up the party." She got up from the couch and left the living room. He felt more relieved about Halsey's party.

Halsey's POV

Marina showed up at the front door.

" Hey mom!" Halsey grinned and hugged her mom. " Hi dad!" She hugged her dad too. Brendon shook both of their hands and invited them inside. " Oh my God. I've missed you guys so so much. Come! I need to talk to you guys about some stuff." Halsey felt a little nervous because her dad was still unaware of her pregnancy.

" Sit down over there while I grab us some drinks," Brendon smiled at them before walking over to the kitchen. He grabbed everyone a glass of water. He sat down next to Halsey. " So...I'm sure Halsey already told Marina about the little surprise and now it's time to tell the Mr."

" S-So, daddy, for awhile now, I've been pregnant with Brendon's baby." Halsey stood up and showed him the small baby bump.

Her dad immediately smiled. " My little girl is pregnant?! Oh my God, honey, that's great! I'm so happy for you." He went to her and hugged her tightly. " I can't believe it. It's like a birthday present from God," her dad chuckled.

" Sure is," Halsey frowned, because it technically might ruin her career now she might have to be a full-time mother. It really sucked how Brendon would be the only one allowed to live his dream. " I didn't think it would happen this early though.."
