Lifeboats [TRIBUTE TO TITANIC]

(A/N: This is NOT in the format of Jack and Rose. Read on to find out whether you, Shawn or both of you survive or not)

Both of your lives are now in danger as Titanic starts to fill with water. Less than 5 minutes ago, the ship hit an iceberg in the middle of a moonless night. You two were near the very bottom of the ship at E deck, and you can feel the ship beginning to tilt.

"Y/N, in case we don't make it..." Shawn starts, you can the fear in his eyes.

"Shawn, don't say that. We'll make it, just have to find our way out of here quickly..." You reply, but tears are beginning to come out of your eyes. 

You two took a different route up to the main deck as there were many people crowding the exit. 

You two reached an empty gate but there was an officer blocking the way.

"Sorry, women and children only." He says.

"You gotta let us through! He's my only one! I have no-one else!" You pleaded, but the officer wouldn't budge. Shawn immediately got furious and knocked him out. Before he could get up, you two ran towards the gate but it led you guys to a closed one, and keys were needed to unlock it. 

"Shawn! Can you break it?" You ask, worry on your face.

"Yeah, I think I can. Move aside." He says with determination and does everything he can to break the gate open.

After about 15 minutes of no success, you can see the water rushing up the stairs. 

"Shawn! Hurry! We're gonna die in less than a minute!" You panicked. The gate was almost broken, but not enough. Shawn did one final kick and it managed to break it before the water drowned you both. 

When you got to the boat deck, the ship already was titled high enough that you two couldn't stand up anymore. There was one more lifeboat, and you two scrambled towards it. There was room for 2 left, but the officer wouldn't accept Shawn.

"Women and children only!" You heard the same command. Shawn was too tired to physically fight back, so he pleaded with you.

"Sorry, no can do." 

"JUST DO IT!!" You both screamed at the officer, he seemed taken back and let you both in. The lifeboat was lowered and you two were now safe. But around 40 minutes later, you gasped as you saw Titanic's lights go out and the ship sinking under the water. You knew that there were still over 500 people onboard. You began to tear up as you couldn't believe what you just saw.

"Y/N.... I d-don't know what to say..." Shawn says as you can see tears in his eyes as well. You two hug each other, both for comfort and to stay away from freezing the cold night.

"I-I can't believe we made it..." You say, he nods his head and kisses his forehead. 

"Yeah, me too. I love you Y/N." He says.

"I-I love you too, Shawn." You reply. 

Around 4 hours later, the rescue ship RMS Carpathia arrives and began to bring the lifeboats up.

"We'll be safe shortly. Just hold on Y/N." Shawn tells you as you nodded. You were freezing the entire time and can't wait to have something warm onboard. 

The officers start to bring the lifeboat up, but it was over-capacity so it went up much slower. 

"Y/N, we'll be safe. We made it." He tells you. You kiss his cheek.

The lifeboat reached the deck and people started to get off. You smiled at the fact the you survived such a terrifying disaster.

You two stand up to get off the lifeboat, but it suddenly tilts and Shawn falls off, hitting the water head-first. You screamed in horror as you wondered what happened to him.

"NO!! Lower the boat!" The officers waited for the last person to get off the boat and then lowered it back to the water as fast as they can.

You found Shawn and inspected him. His eyes were closed and there was blood pouring out of his head. You started to tear up and then cry your eyes out. 

"S-Shawn...." You whisper. No response.

"SHAWN!!" You shouted and tried to shake him awake, but it was no use. You placed your hand to his chest and felt no heartbeat. You pulled him into the lifeboat and the officers raised it back on deck. You inspected Shawn again and now know that he didn't make it. 

You placed your head on his chest as your tears landed on it. "W-Why..." You whisper.

You held his limp hand and kissed his lips. You expected him to kiss back, but didn't.

"Shawn, we were so close. I can't believe this...." You try to say, but break down. 

"I love you!" You say and nuzzle your face into his shoulder. 

An officer approached you.

"Can I have your name please. We have some stuff that we need to give back to passengers from Titanic."

"Y/N..." You say sadly.

"Y/N, and last name?" 

"Mendes." You reply. 

"Y/N Mendes. Thank you. I'll be right back. And I'm sorry for what happened." The officer says sympathetically, you smiled back weakly.

About 10 minutes later, the officer came back with a worried look.

"This is gonna sound kind of bad, but the captain requests your boyfriend's body be buried at sea..." He starts, but you shook your head and cried.

"No, please..." 

"I'm sorry, but by the time you reach your final destination, his body will um..." The officer gulps. You gasp and covered your mouth. You finally agreed to the officer.

"Thanks, is it okay if we do it before we sail?" He asks, you nodded. You couldn't believe everything that's happened to you within 7 hours. 

One hour later, you were gathered with some passengers from Titanic for the 'sea funeral' of your boyfriend. You were bawling your eyes out as you couldn't stand to see what was gonna happen in a few minutes.

"Here, he wanted to give you this..." The officer approached you and gave you a little box with the messageTo my beloved Y/N written on top.

You opened it and found a rare diamond inside named The Heart of The Ocean. You gasped. This diamond was very rare. As much as you wanted to keep it, you couldn't. This was the heart of the ocean, so it thought it belonged there.

You saw the coffin on the motor plank. More tears fell out of your eyes but the officers let you have last words before it gets thrown and buried into the ocean. 

"S-Shawn... I love you." You say, there wasn't anything else you wanted to say as you were too tired and sad. 

You opened the coffin a little and placed the diamond on Shawn's left chest, right above his heart. 

The coffin was shut tightly and a bell was rung. 

"Shawn, may you rest in peace." The captain said and turned on the motor plank. You watched in horror as the coffin slides away from the plank and falls into the freezing Atlantic Ocean. You watched Shawn, and the diamond sink deeper and deeper. 

People gave you sympathetic looks and tried to cheer you up after the ceremony finished. 

But inside you, the pain was too much to handle.
