Language Insecurity [PART 1]

Shawn was recording today at the studio, and you were pretty tired from yesterday's hectic party that he invited you to so you decided to stay at home the whole day.

Things have been going pretty well with your relationship with him, until he started to become a little distant less than a week ago.

 Just three months ago, found out that you speak fluent French and wanted to learn from you.

**FLASHBACK**

You and Shawn were fighting over the last muffin, until you immediately blurted out "Arrêtez ça!" and he looks at you funny. 

"What, baby?" He asks, confused.

"Ne pas le faire à nouveau! Ce n'est pas bon!" You gave him more French to distract him with the muffin.

You snatched it away from him and ate it. 

"I didn't know you could speak fluent French! Teach me!" He says in amazement as you nodded and smiled.

**END OF FLASHBACK**

It's been over three months since he learnt from you, but lately he's been getting a little distant about it. He's getting to the point where he doesn't really wanna learn anymore. To top it all off, he gets frustrated whenever you blurt out a French word randomly. 

You sighed and went on Twitter, retweeting some of your fans' tweets and compliments. The hate never really affected you, in fact you found it hilarious. 

But your heart stopped as you found a twitter convo between him and Camila just four days earlier. This made you know why he didn't wanna learn French anymore, and why he's becoming distant.

Going to try and learn Spanish again...Haha.

Again? Did he fail in school or something? You chuckled, but it didn't last as you read along.

@shawnmendes Don't worry, you'll learn fast because you have an INCREDIBLE Spanish teacher who's name rhymes with Vamila Carmello! 

@camilacabello97  I sure hope so, French is starting to sound ugly to me. Spanish is waayy sexier...like you ;)

Your blood boiled as you continued to scroll through the convo. This was definitely more than just a request to learn Spanish. Shawn sounded like he was flirting with Camila. 

What he didn't know is that you loved to study and learn new languages when you were just five years old. You may not be a fluent Spanish speaker, but you're fluent in not just English and French, but also Thai, German, Italian, Portuguese and Japanese. You studied almost non-stop when you were young, watched shows involving these languages and became fluent in all of them after over 8 years of hard work. 

"I'll show you who's fluent in languages you puttana!" You cursed at your phone as you continued to read the convo, and said the word slut in Italian.

That's when it crossed the line for you. You started to tear up and felt a little taken away. 

"Je te déteste, Shawn..." You whisper in French. 

You hear the door close and voice call. Shawn was home.

"Y/N? Je suis chez moi!" He calls out, normally you would feel happy that he's finally learning French, but not this time.
