Emergency Surgery [PART 1]

After over 7 years of intensive studying, a bit of procrastination and insomnia, you were now a certified professional surgeon. The first time you saw a body being cut open, you almost fainted but now treat it as if it were fascinating instead of terrifying.

"Doctor Y/L/N? Your operation is in 20 minutes." A nurse called you. You were gonna be operating on a patient soon. You weren't at all nervous, you never had an unsuccessful operation.

"Okay, let's go." You said to yourself and went to the operating room.

Meanwhile, around 10km away, a concert was just about to finish. Thousands of fans came to see Shawn Mendes tonight. You wished you could go, but you had an operation to do.

Shawn's POV
"Thank you so much San Francisco! You guys are great!" I shouted to the crowd as it was the end of another fun, but tiring concert. Next stop, Los Angeles.

The fans screamed loudly and waved at me, I waved back and touched the hands of some girls in the front row. "I love you!" I said to each one of them.

As I got up, I heard the sound of gunshots being fired. I then felt two bullets collide my chest. I fell onto the ground as the fans screamed in shock. Some began to cry.

Security came over and surrounded me, I could see blood coming out of my chest. I breathed heavily but the pain was too much.

I closed my eyes tightly and groaned. The pain was too much.

"We've got to get you to the hospital!" One of the guards said and called an ambulance. Fans all over the world are gonna be upset and worried if I don't make it.

The ambulance arrived in less than 5 minutes, and before I know it I was at the hospital emergency room.

Aaliyah comes to me and cries her heart out. I teared up as well.

"S-Shawn, please don't die." I can see her tears and I wiped them off with my thumb gently.

"I promise I won't. After my operation, I'll see you with a huge smile on your face and I'll give you the biggest hug you'll ever get from me. Count on it." I reassured her and cupped her face with one of my hands, she forced a weak smile back.

"I love you, Shawn." She whispers and sniffles.

"I love you, too." I say and formed a heart with my hands.

And with that, they took me to the rooms and scheduled an operation as early as possible.

Your POV
You finally finished a successful operation and were relieved that you were done for the night, but a nurse comes in and talks to you.

"Y/N, you have one more operation to do. And the it's not just the families nor the patient who are counting on you, it's the whole world as well." She explains as your eyes widened.

"Who is my patient?" You asked.

"Shawn Mendes. He got shot with two bullets and we must get them out before his blood pressure de-stabilizes and heart rate fails. Operating Room is 20A and we've got anaesthesia already on him, he'll doze off in about five minutes." She panics a little as you gasp as well.

"Okay, come on!" You said with determination but were worried on the inside. If this operation fails, the whole world will hate you for making him die.

As you were on your way to the Operating Room, you saw Aaliyah in the middle of the hallway. She looked at you with fear.

"A-Are you the doctor who's gonna operate on Shawn?" She asks, tears falling down. You crouched down to her level.

"Yes I am, honey." You spoke softly.

"D-Don't let him die. I-I love him so much...." She whimpers as you gave her a hug.

"I promise I'll save him, but please understand it's not 100% guaranteed." You told her the truth and she cries harder.

"Good luck, I'm counting on you. Don't let him die..." She says and you pull away.

"I'l do my best." You reply and teared up a little, but you quickly wiped them away as you had to be strong.

"Whenever you're ready, doctor." The nurse motions you into the operating room as you gave Aaliyah a thumbs up before entering.

You saw another surgeon already cutting Shawn's body open with a special knife. You put on gloves and inspected the X-Rays, got out the tools and took a deep breath. This was it.

The world is depending on you to save Shawn's life.
