Darkness
"I don't know Paisley James, you're an awful liar. I'm not sure I trust your abilities to lie to all your classmates and teachers. Do you think you could do it? Even lie to your friends?" Micah asked, both Jason and his eyes looked me over, checking me for any shine of truth. I sighed and dropped my arms to my side before continuing, "I'll be fine, plus Jason will be there to ensure I don't slip up." "--Actually I wasn't gonna go back Pais, I was gonna do home schooling here with Mic--" I cut him off by sending a glare his way. His mouth quickly shut as he lowly chuckled, "School sounds great."
"Then it's sent, the two of you will be returning to school next Monday."
"I'm too lazy to walk," I complained as we strolled down the hallway back to our rooms. Jason rolled his eyes before sliding my onto his back. I smiled proudly, linking my arms around his neck and wrapping my legs around his torso. I loved it when he was in a sweet mood. "Are you excited?" He asked.
"About what?"
"About going back."
"Yeah, kind of nervous. I just want things to go back as normal as possible."
"Things will never be totally normal again Paisley, you need to understand that."
"I know," I sighed, hiding my face in the triangle of his back.
"I wonder if she even notices I'm gone," I began to think once we got back to Jason's room. "Who?" He set me on the bed before walking over to his closet while pulling his shirt over his head. I stared at his defined muscles for a moment, zoning out of the conversation. "Pais?" A smirk danced widely across his face and a glimpse of light played in his eyes as he noticed me checking him out. "Oh right," I snapped out of it, "My mom..." He let out a long breath before coming to sit next to me on the bed, "It'll be okay. You'll get used to this feeling." My eyes shot up to him, searching him for any emotion but finding none, "Will I?" I asked knowing the answer. No, I would never get over my old life.
[ I'm entering this here to ensure everyone sees it. I cannot write another chapter until you guys tell me where you want this story to go. I pranced into Dalton's room to see him, Damon, and Laron smoking three separate blunts. "Hey guys," I sighed, collapsing into the couch between Damon and Dalton. "Whaddup peanut?" I glared to Laron for his nick name he had called me since the day he met me, it was only because I was short and olive toned. "How's loverboy?" Dalton cooed before taking another hit.
"I didn't come here to be harassed assholes," I hissed.
Damon chuckled, "You had to of known it was gonna happen."
"Yeah, we've never seen Jason like that dude." Laron blew a perfect 'o'.
"Like what?" I asked, taking a hit off Dalton's blunt. I didn't usually smoke, but I would if I was being offered or it was in the area.
"Whipped." Dalton smirked.
I nearly choked, exhaling the smoke, "He's not whipped. Jason McCann whipped? That's a joke."
Damon shrugged.
"So why did you come here then?" Laron spoke up once more.
"I came to ask for help."
"On?" Damon urged.
"I need to become a better liar."
"No help there, babe, I've seen you lie. It'd be a miracle." Dalton joked.
I stared down hard at my feet, "I get it. I'm a bad liar. I hate you guys." I got up to leave.
"Love you too," I could practically feel Damon rolling his eyes without even having to turn around.
"Paisley?!" Serena's voice broke through my phone sounding urgent. I sat up instantly to check the time on the clock next to my nightstand, 1:36. I rubbed my forehead against the palm of my hand, "Serena?" I questioned.
"Paisley, you gotta come now." She sounded almost in tears.
"Where?" I began slowly pulling myself out of bed.
"Saint Clark's Hospital on 34th street!" I could already picture Serena standing there with her eyes blood shot and swollen lids.
"Why? What happened?" I began to pull on regular clothes quickly, pressing the phone between my cheek and shoulder cap.
"It's Branson." Her words made me stop dead in my tracks. The world faded out. The light in my life went out. There was nothing but me... me falling into a complete darkness. I barely heard screams from the other side of the phone but they were inaudible. My baby brother. I was too shocked to ask what happened. "I'll be there," was all my small voice could muster.
