Everything's A Wreck

"Jason, everything is fine." Paisley tried to brush off the worry in her voice, and she failed. Jason's eyes still contained their previous dark tint although it had lightened at the slightest. "Why are you lying then?" He spoke simply, refusing to let his eyes wander from the girl standing just across the desk from him. "I'm not." She lied once more. Suddenly his balled up fists slammed against the oak wood and he stood from his original placement in the chair, he bowed his head to look at Pais, "You're a god awful liar, Paisley James, and you know it." She shook her head from side to side and still fought the urge to tell him the truth. She knew she was a terrible liar, but right now it was all she had. Jason's hand rose as he squinted his eyes and clasped the bridge of his nose between his index finger and thumb, frustration was literally radiating off the man, "Okay, you can go."
Paisley could tell Jason didn't believe her, and he wasn't gonna stop until he figured out the truth. Nonetheless, she gave him a final nod and turned to leave the office. She knew he would be mad for awhile. Anything was better than him leaving her though, so she would suffer through it. Reaching into her pocket, she dug out her cellular device while sulking her way towards her room. Ring. Ring. There were only two chimes until a voice cut them off and came over the line, it was Sam. "Hey," The girl on the line spoke sheepishly. Paisley took the phone from her ear for only a moment to check the time, 8:43. "Oh shit, did I wake you?" Paisley gasped into the phone. There was slight rustling before Sam came back, "No, no, I was about to have to get up anyways. Why? What's up?" Paisley could tell the girl was lying, but decided to shake it off and continue, "I just miss you, I haven't seen you in a minute." The phrase 'in a minute,' was slang for a really long time.
"I know, it's like you fell off the face of the Earth," Sam giggled back.
"So I was thinking, we should get together today."
"Oh yeah, and do what?"
"I don't know, go see a movie?"
Sam fake gasped before becoming overly excited, "Are you asking me on a date, Paisley James?"
"You could call it that," Pais only laughed back while unlocking her door and walking into the big condo. "Sounds great, pick me up at 10." The chirpy voice echoed into the phone only making a smile cross Paisley's face, "Alright, see you then, babe." The phone was thrown onto the humongous California King bed, and the girl stalked over to the bathroom in order to primp for her 'date.'
The car ride to the Cinema was rowdy, just as the girls had expected. When girls don't see each other for a long time then get together on a whim, they suddenly have hours of talking, laughing, and catching up to do. Paisley tried her best to avoid the topic of the baby, but it was eventually brought up by her friend. "So, are you excited for little Pason to be running around?" Sam asked nonchalantly. Her head shifted backwards as Pais made a face then glanced back to the road with a confused expression, "Pason?" The passenger of the car only broke into a fit of laughter before choking out, "That's what Laron calls him, it kind of sticks." Paisley also joined in with a giggle, "So that's how you figured out?" Sam nodded proudly, "Laron tells me everything."
"I'll keep that in mind."
"How does Jason feel about it?" She questioned, still giddy.
Her facial expression had to of dropped because not even a moment after, Sam's laughter was replaced with tension. The driver tried her best to clear he throat and come up with the right words, "Well, you see, he doesn't exactly know really." A moment of silence passed until Paisley glanced to the seat next to her to find her friend's mouth touching the ground, "What do you mean, 'Doesn't he exactly know?'" She gasped. Paisley shrugged slightly and kept her eyes on the road carefully, "Exactly--" The girl didn't have time to finish because with out warning, an 18 wheeler demolished the car at a four way intersection.
