He's Gone
[ Written in third person because I can't make you guys comprehend the emotion from Paisley's pov ]
Seeing Paisley's reaction to the contents of the envelope, he quickly gained access in also seeing what secret the wrapping once beheld. Even for a split second, his heart also stopped. He had never really knew Branson, but he knew how much she loved him. Within that envelope there were pictures of a little boy, beaten bloody. That little boy, was Branson. And that little boy, was dead.
She collapsed to the ground, her knees buckling under her feeling like jello. He was swiftly at her side, pulling her into his chest and onto his lap where she sat there and cried her eyes out for minutes that seemed like hours. He was dead. This boy that she loved with her life, whom she would have laid down he own life for, he was dead. Just like that. Gone. That's the awful part about it, in this life style you never knew who you were gonna lose next. People come and they go just as fast, if not faster.
During her times of desperation she tried to reason, that this was all just fate. This was plan; however, this didn't seem like a well thought out plan at all, this seemed like a living hell. "Fate." Was it possible that a young boy's fate was to die in the middle of gang wars? Someone so innocent who had absolutely nothing to do with the situation at all? Someone who was thrown into the life without a say? I thought fate was supposed to be rational, that hardly seemed rational to me.
He continued to whisper small reminders into her hair as he rocked her weak body back and forth, "It's okay, baby." "Everything is okay." "Branson is safe now." "He wouldn't want to see you like this." Despite all his attempts to make her feel better, he just failed miserably. Continuous sobs erupted from the defenseless figure, she was so far gone she was better off dead.
A cough caught Jason off guard making him jump and face the direction it had come from, Haley and Beau slowly moved into the room. "We were worried, you guys were taking so long and..." Haley's voice trailed off as she saw Paisley in such a distraught form. "He's gone." Jason whispered lowly, only gaining a louder cry from Paisley. "Jonathan? Well yeah he's right there but why--" Beau's voice was cut off by Jason, "No, Beau," His voice more raspy than normal, "Branson's gone. They killed him."
Haley and Beau stood in shock, neither finding the right words, but really there were no 'right' words because no amount of words or clever sayings would bring back Paisley's baby brother.
