Verge of Death

"Th-they don't know if he is going to make it," I sobbed while immediately standing as Haley, Beau, Jason, Kami, Damon, Dalton, Sam, Kyle, and Laron ran through the double doors of the waiting room in the hospital. "Oh no," Haley breathed out, running over to me and pulling me into a comforting hug. Kami and Sam soon joined in as I let out soft cries into their shoulders. Once we all finally let go, I looked to my boys who stood there, filled with sympathy. "I'm so sorry," Beau hugged me lightly. I could do nothing but nod as Laron, Damon, and Dalton mocked his actions. Kyle stood their awkwardly rubbing his arm, avoiding eye contact. We weren't that close, I was honestly wondering why he even came.
Finally, it was Jason who linked his muscular arms around my shoulders protectively, "What happened?" He murmured into my long black hair that was messily tangled. Suddenly I became irate. This is HIS fault I remembered and found myself forcefully pushing off Jason's chest with my hands. He didn't budge but still studied me over with a confused expression. "This is your fault," My voice was harsh and low through the hurt and tears.
"What are you talking about babe?" Haley caught my arm as I pushed off Jason aggressively, him letting me go with a blank expression. I stumbled into her arms and glared in his direction, "He caused this." Everyone was silent. "What did Jason do?" Laron questioned attempting to soothe me by rubbing his hand in a circular motion on my upper back which ironically only made me more angry. "It was a gang," My voice was raspy as I continued, the harsh tone only getting worse, "The NIPs, they wanted revenge on Jason and so they looked to me but they soon realized I was so well guarded that it would have been impossible to do anything so they went for the closest thing to me, knowing it would hurt me. Branson." My friends, bystanders, let out small gasps.
"What did they do to him?" Kami's voice was quiet. My blue eyes turned to ice as I spoke looking directly into Jason's mocha orbs, burning him, "They stabbed him and left him to bleed to death, luckily the nanny found him in his playroom and got him here just as his heart beat was thinning out.." My voice trailed off until finally breaking into more sobs. My baby brother who I was supposed to be there for, to love and protect now lied in a hospital bed right down the hall on my conscious. If Jason hadn't taken me I would have been there for him, even more none of this would have happened. The gang wouldn't have even known me nor my family existed. But considering Jason had to take me-- My baby brother was on the verge of death.
