I Could Never Love Her

Paisley spotted Jason from a hundred people away and sunconciously felt her legs making their way over to him. She was moving at the speed of light, ready to embrace the man whom she loved so much. "Jay!" She hollared for him as she came closer and finally threw her long arms around his neck. He linked his arms around the small of her back and smiled down to her, "Hi baby." She fell in closer to his body and mirrored his expression, "Why didn't you tell me?" Paisley smacked his chest playfully along with a fake pout.

Jason chuckled before responding, "I just figured out myself. Beau and I went to Micah's office and he wasn't there, but he left a note saying he wanted to leave me in charge." His fiance couldn't help but to beam at him, "Congrats love!"

- A week later

The two girls stood with their up backs pressed against the brick wall of the warehouse along with one of their feet while the other stayed planted on the ground to keep the weight. Paisley breathed in through the blunt, taking in the bitter smoke from the weed. She swallowed and held in the cloud as Haley did the same. Eventually, both girls let out a thick grey colored smoke that drifted off towards the dirt road. "I love him," Haley began but soon found herself trailing off then coming to once more, "I love him, but I don't think he feels the same anymore." Paisley coughed out another hit as she turned to her friend in shock, "Beau loves you more than anything, you guys have been on now for what? Over a year?" Haley shrugged and stared off into the distance, obviously sorting through the deep thoughts that clouded her reality.

"I don't know, we've been together longer than you and Jason and still," She motioned up her bare hand as if to point out there was no ring on it, "Nothing." Paisley let out a dry chuckle before shaking her head and leaning it to rest against the hard brick, "I wouldn't worry about it, love. He'll come around." She soon found herself staring down at her own diamond and drawing a conclusion, "If Jason McCann can do it, Beau Keys can too."

"Speaking of Jason, where's he been lately?" Haley dared to ask as she took in the smoke once more. Paisley rolled her eyes in response before explaining, "Drawing up some new blue prints, doing amunition checks, shooting range, plainning mission.." She continued with a lengthy list until finally ending with a sigh, "He hasn't done much else since Boss-- I mean Micah left." Haley turned using the foot that was once planted firmly against the brick, she faced her best friend while leaning her shoulder to the wall. Paisley glanced back down only to see the girl with bright red eyes and a droopy composure; she couldn't help but laugh lowly through her dry throat. "Whaat?" Haley cried out in a groan. The girl next to her just shook her head before throwing the rest of the blunt to the ground and stomping it out with the toe of her combat boot.

"I'd talk to him," Haley began in all seriousness. Paisley nodded once before pushing herself from the wall, "I will, just not right now. I don't think I'm in the right state of mind..." The two girls giggled because neither of them were, both high as kites. "You right, you right." Haley repeated Paisley's actions, "But you will talk to him."

- That night, Paisley's point of view -

"Jay?" I knocked on the big wooden door before entering, something I hadn't done in months. I usually just find myself walking on in and he used to be okay with it, that was until he got Micah's old office and ever since he was been more secretive. He grumbled something under his breath, I couldn't make out if it was telling me to come in or to go away so I went with the one I hoped for. "Jason?" I found myself repeating as my hands pushed opened the door quietly as possible. His head shot up from the desk, his eyes a dark color, one I haven't seen in ages.

"What the hell, James?" He shouted before slamming his fists into the oak in front of him, making a loud crash. I jumped as automatic reation although I probably should have been used to it by now considering this isn't the first, second, or third time this has happened. "Can't you see I'm busy?" He complained while motioning out to the work in front of him. I ducked my head to stare onto the desk, it appeared he was doing room checks. With a sigh, I planted my butt to his red couch in the corner of the room and just stared him in disbief, hoping and praying for my old Jason back.
