Julia and Kaitlin's Apartment

Swinging the sword in her hands as she took a delicate step forwards, Kaitlin huffed, "hmmm..."

"Would you quit swinging that thing near my head? You'll to decapitate me and then we'll have an even bigger problem," Edgeworth said, adjusting the ice pack on his foot.

"Ach," Julia sat down against the kitchen wall. "Let her be. She's been doing this for over half a year now."

"I don't care how much it makes you concentrate, Kaitlin," he continued, ignoring Julia, "but it's killing my own level to do so."

"We wouldn't have a time delay if you hadn't slept the day away," Julia argued.

Kaitlin muttered from the background, "I still don't understand..."

"It's not like I could help it. According to Mrs. Swan the hotel maid had to come and check on me at least 3 times to make sure I wasn't dead," he said, trying to argue.

Another pain bursted in his toe, causing him to emit a large 'ow'. Kaitlin laughed. "That's what you get for kicking a pole."

"It's not funny. I was genuinely angry," he stated.

"Oh," Julia giggled, "we all know that."

Kaitlin sheathed her sword. "The answer to the problem eludes me."

"So what now?" Julia asked, smacking the packet of water flavoring in her hand against her palm.

Edgeworth said, "I'm going to investigate. I'm still her lawyer and I'm going to check out something I'm curious about."

"Where are you going?" Kaitlin asked.

Edgeworth stood up from the couch. "The store, the largest one in town."

"Why in the world would there be a lead there?" Julia questioned.

"I have no idea," Kaitlin said as he moved in determinant to the door. "I'm going with him, though. Wait for me Edgeworth!"

"You can call me by my first name, you know?" Edgeworth said as he reached the door.

"There's only one issue with that," Julia laughed. "What is it? I forgot."

Edgeworth chuckled. "It's Miles."

"Alright Miles, come on, time's a wasting," Kaitlin said, rushing past him out the door.

He eyed her. "You're going to go out with a sword attached to your back? Where do you think you are, the wilderness?"

She rolled her eyes. "I'm going to go drop it off at the gym and get a wooden one for your scared ass. Now come on!"

They walked out into the street. Winter dusk surrounded them. Already the sky was changing from a shaded royal blue to an infinite hematite black. The dark was cold, lonely. Those in their right minds would not come out on a night such as that. It felt as if a cold spell had rushed in. Edgeworth hugged his jacket closer. His breath came out in thick clouds. His hands were red from the ripping chill of November.

"Are you alright?" Kaitlin asked suddenly.

Edgeworth stared at her. "Why wouldn't I be?"

"Sabrina. She's an impactful person. She made an effort to console you, didn't she?" Kaitlin said, once again knowing just the thing to say.

"How did you know?" He asked, even if it was a hopeless question.

To his surprise, she answered it. "She did the same with me. It was to focus me so that I could become a psychic, but it really helped and I know she was genuine about everything she said to me. She really cared for all of us."
