Chapter 41
Vanessa POV

"How much longer do I have to stay here?" I asked a nurse. Jerome looked up waiting for a response. "Only for a few more days. We just want to make sure everything is okay." She responded

I don't remember anything. How would everything ever be okay?. I've been here for over a week already.. I shook my head understanding. After the nurse left I looked at Jerome. "I'm sorry I can't remember." I mumbled.

"Hey it's okay. You will eventually." We stayed silent for a while. "Do you want to go visit Lisa to see if the photo album will help?"

"Sure." I said quietly. I stood and slowly walked toward the door. I made my way to Lisa's room with Jerome behind me. I knocked once and went inside.

Lisa and Mitch were playing cards and to the side in a plastic hospital cart was baby Amara.

"Hey Vanessa!" Lisa smiled. I gave a small wave and went to sit on her bed. She gave her cards to Mitch and focused her attention on me.

They had to keep Lisa and Amara in the hospital because Amara was born pre-mature and the doctors wanted to make sure she would be okay on her own. As for Lisa, they didn't want the cut on her stomach to re-open. She seems to be doing a lot better now.

"Okay.. Let's see how this goes." She said. Mitch plopped a photo album in front of us and Lisa opened it.

The first page was a title page that was titled "high school memories." She flipped the page and there were photos of Lisa and I and more girls I didn't remember.

"We played high school volleyball for two years, but we quit because we had big responsibilities with the band." She started "You were colorguard captain and I was the drum major." She explained.

We flipped to the next page which had Lisa and I with three other girls. Lisa had on a marching uniform and the other girls and I had on colorful dresses.

"That's Katrina, Amber and Jennifer." She pointed them out to me. I felt a sharp pain in the side of my head. I held my head in my hands and let out a slight yell.

"Nurse!" Jerome yelled. The pain grew stronger but I had a memory.

We were in a bus full of kids who I remember from high school. We were changing into our uniforms.

"Kat help me get this on! I feel like I outgrew it." I sighed. She zipped it up and it felt a bit snug.

"Hurry up band!" A yell came from the front of the bus. We all shuffled out of there and went to the equipment trailer.

"Nessa.. Could you help with my flag? I think I got one without a weight on it." A freshman color guard asked. "Of course Linda. We just need to find a butt with weight on it." I said giggling at my statement.

I searched through a box and found a extra one. "Here." I replaced the bottom of her flag.

"Fall in!" A yell came from the front. We stood in our lines ready to move out to the field. "Okay guys. This is our last shot. Tonight we play at the Alamodome for a chance to win the state championship. Go out there and play to the best of you ability. I believe in y'all! ANIMO!"

I opened my eyes. "Sweetie can you hear me?" I nodded my head. "Okay good.. Do you still have pain?" I shook my head this time.

"I had a memory." I mumbled. "Good.. That's progress. What did you remember?" The nurse asked

"State year. I was in the marching band and we had to preform at the Alamodome." I looked at Lisa with a soft smile.

"Did we win?" I asked. "No.. Sadly. We were robbed. We came in second." She said.

"Darn." I chuckled.

"Okay well your memories will come back so often. Be ready for the pains and when she does get them. Make sure she's sitting down with her head back." The nurse told everyone else.

Just as they nodded, Amara started to cry. "I got her!" Mitch yelled. He stood up and grabbed the crying baby. Lisa held out a small newborn bottle with formula in it.

Mitch sat down and took the bottle from Lisa and started to feed Amara. I smiled. "Okay.. Can we continue?" I asked.

Lisa nodded. "During high school we were in a lot of things. National Honor Society, Student Council, powerlifting and of course band. So these formal pictures are all from banquets."

"We also went to a lot of concerts in high school. We saw Pierce the Veil, Sleeping with Sirens, Neck Deep, Paris, All Time Low, Bring me The Horizon and a lot more. These photos we took with band members."

I flipped through the photos and one caught my eye. "Is this Vic Fuentes?" I asked pointing to a guy. Lisa smiled. "Yes!"

We went through a lot of photos from high school and I recalled a lot of memories. When we finished the photo album the doctor came in saying Lisa and Amara can go home.

Lisa and Mitch got ready to go back home. "I can finally lay in a comfy bed. I'll come back and visit you." She said giving me a hug. She handed me the photo album and I smiled.

"Let's go Jerome." I said hold out my hand which he took. We walked back to my room and I sat on the bed. I looked at Jerome and smiled.

"I really wish I could remember all the amazing times we had together." I said. "It's okay baby girl. Eventually you will." He leaned in and kissed my forehead.

It felt like I got a shock and I remembered something. Almost as it triggered it. "You're JeromeASF." I said with a laugh

"Wait what did you say?" Jerome said. "Your YouTube name is JeromeASF and I think Mitch's is BajanCanadian." I said.

I was immediately in Jerome's arms. "You remember!" He yelled. Before I could correct him and say I didn't remember everything, his lips were on mine. I felt like my body was being electrocuted and the clouds in my brain disappeared.

A sharp pain killed the side of my head causing me to pull away from him. Tears started coming down my face.

"I remember you." I whispered.
