Chapter 6

Lisa POV

"And Vanessa came with me to college in Tampa so I could study Meterology." I answered. Currently we were playing 21 questions and eating popcorn.

I'm so grateful that we picked the gas stove

"Okay so Vanessa. Why do you and Lisa call each other twin?" Mitch asked. I silently laughed at the memory.

"Well I moved to San Antonio, Texas and they said I looked like a girl who went to the same school. This was when Lisa had glasses and I had longer hair. We met and instantly became best friends."

I stood up.

"Does anyone want something to drink?"  I ask. "Yep." Everyone said
"I'll go with you" Mitch said. Jerome gave him a thumbs ups, which caused Mitch to get red. I can't get over how cute he is.

Mitch grabbed my hand and we walked toward the kitchen. "Lisa could I ask you something?" I looked up at him. "What's up benja?" I asked.

"I-I.. Really like you." I smiled. "I like you too Mitch." He smiled back and looked down.

Should I go for it?.. Nah. I don't wanna be to impulsive. Well.. Fuck it.

"Mitch?" He looked at me. I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him. He pulled me closer deepening the kiss.

I liked this. This moment. Our first kiss and it felt amazing.

"FINALLY!" We broke apart, startled, both a shade of pink. We turned towards the door way and there stood my best friend and her crush. They were both cheering and laughing.

I turned and buried my face in Mitch's chest. He kissed the top of my head.

"Baby gurl?" I raise my head to look up. "Yes?" I ask. "I had wanted that for along time. Jerome was trying to give me pep talks but I would just get so nervous. I have just one question. Lisa would you be my girlfriend?"

Although it was dark I could see hope in his eyes.

"Of course. I would love to be your girlfriend." I answered. He smiled and gave me another kiss.

This has to be the best day ever.

Vanessa POV

"I'm so proud of my biggums." Jerome started. We walked back to the living room to give them privacy.

"Same! They're so cute together!" I was excited. I knew how much she liked him. Jerome was looking at me. "Vanessa can I ask why you ran away from at the pizza place?"

This set a serious mood. It's not like I don't trust Jerome, but I don't want him to see me different after it. I don't want him to know how low I went. I went to sit on the floor and Jerome followed sitting beside me.

"Okay but promise me something." I started. "Anything senpai." He answered.  "Don't look at me different after this.. I'm still Vanessa okay?" I questioned. "I give you bacca's honor."

"It started when I started college. Liam, the guy at the pizza place, became one of my best friends. We had the same classes and he was in band too. We had clicked  automatically. At first Lisa didn't approve of him. She said he looked to shady. Like a potential fuckboy."

I looked down avoiding Jerome's eyes. "I didn't believe her. I wish I did." My eyes had started to get wet with tears.

"We got together. We dated for 2 years and everything seemed fine. He was a bit controlling though. He didn't like me spending time with Lisa, so I didn't. We got really distant then. We walk past each other in our dorm and not say a thing."

Tears started dropping on my cheeks. Jerome scooted over to me and started hugging me. I accepted it.

"Liam was cheating on me for the 2 years we were together. I found out when he said he would be volunteering at the library and I wanted to surprise him. The librarian said he never showed up."  

I let a sob out. In the corner of my eye I could see Lisa push Mitch back into the kitchen. "Vanessa you could stop if you want." Jerome said clearly saddened with my words.

"No it's okay. Well I went back to his dorm and went in, without knocking. I wish I never laid my eyes on him. He was cheating on me with a girl in my media class."

"I yelled "get up. Now you asshole." And he did. He was smirking and He said "Vanessa you can't expect me to be faithful if you were never faithful." I didn't know what he meant. I slapped him. Hard. I have never felt so much anger. I told him it was over and I went to my dorm."

"Lisa was there and she saw I had tears in my eyes. She started to comfort me and I told her everything. She said there was a rumor spread that I slept with a guy from my chemistry class. I didn't even know the guy."

I looked up at Jerome and he wiped my tears with his thumb. I could hear thunder roll in the background.

"Lisa and I got close again, but the rumors continued. They got worse.. I had started to cut and starve myself. I was depressed. I realized my life turned because of Liam. It was his friend Vince who was spreading the rumors. I have one year left of college but me and Lisa took the year off to let he rumors die down. I never really moved on from them."

Jerome grabbed my arm. He moved around the bracelets and looked at my wrist. Those were kinda recent. Maybe from a few days ago. He let go of my arm and wrapped me in a hug.

He let go from the hug and looked at me and kissed me. The kiss was quick but it was comforting. I liked it.

He grabbed me into a hug again. He rested his chin on my head. "Vanessa, I'm so sorry that happened to you. That guy is an asshole. He didn't see what a beautiful girl he had infront of him. Any guy would be lucky to have you. I don't see you different. I still think you are as beautiful as ever. I will always be here for you. Your stuck with this bacca." He laughed a bit at the end. Trying to make me feel better.

I hugged him tightly and kissed his cheek and whispered a "thank you"

"Come on let's go find Lisa and Mitch and get you something to drink."

Jerome stood up and grabbed my hand and we walked to the kitchen.
