Chapter 26

Sophie’s Point of View - November 2011

Trying to have a nice night sleep, my phone rings at one o’clock in the morning disturbing my slumber. This better be good or I will be murdering someone tonight, “Ah, hello. Sophie speaking”

“Hey. I was wondering if you were busy”

“I’m sorry but Ryan, have you not seen the time? What the hell would I be busy doing?”

“I don’t know. You may have had a hot date for all I know”

“You do remember who you are talking to right?”

I could hear Ryan laugh on the other end of the phone. I’m glad he thought it was funny, “So, what can I do for you?”

“I was just wondering if you could drive down here and pick me up. I know that you wish to avoid Drew and all of his belongings but it’s important”

I thought about it for a moment, “I’ll be there soon”

Hanging up the phone and putting on my fluffy panda slippers on my feet, I drove over to Drew’s, a location that I was all too familiar with. When I got there, I saw Ryan and Amelia talking and it didn’t seem to be a positive conversation. It had just dawned on me why Ryan had needed a lift. Something must have happened between him and Amelia. Ryan walked away from Amelia, leaving her there on the driveway. I hoped that she didn’t think that I was choosing Ryan over her.

“Thanks for this Soph. I owe you one”

“No problem. What happened back there?”

“I’m guessing you are referring to the Amelia situation”

“Indeed I am. Care to explain that to me? Even if you don’t, I don’t care. Imma make you tell me anyway”

“Fine. I got a little bit angry”

“Got as in recently?”

“Okay, so I’ve been getting a little angry lately and she wanted to know why. I didn’t know what to tell her so I lost it, yelled, things were said and now I’m here”

“Yikes. Sounds like you’ve gotten yourself into a bit of a pickle”

“I guess I have. And I don’t know how to remove myself from said pickle”

I parked the car and we walked up to the apartments. I unlocked my door and was all prepared to go hop back into bed but the look on Ryan’s face changed my mind, “Ryan, would you like some company?”

He nodded and I relocked my door and went to share a few drinks with Ryan. A few drinks that led to a bitch sesh that lasted hours.

“I bet he is completely wasted and is hitting on every girl he sees”

“That’s pretty much what the entire party went like. And then he tried dancing and fell on his face”

“I wish I could have been there to see it. I would pay money to watch Drew fall on his face”

“It was pretty funny. You would have loved it”

I gazed at the clock, it was almost four and Amelia was either home or going to be soon, “I should head off soon. Don’t want Amelia to freak when I’m not there”

“No, yeah. Of course not. She might think we were doing something”

“Ha, yeah. We wouldn’t want that would we?”

“Nope”

Ryan walked me to the door, I was about to open it when I had the urge to turn around and give Ryan a hug and so I did. Then the strangest thing happened. There was a moment, Ryan and I shared a moment. This moment caused kissing to take place. It was weird and I was feeling weird things which I was going to blame on the alcohol.

“Wow. Oops. That wasn’t supposed to happen”

“You need to go home”

He was right. I did need to but right then, neither one of us seemed to care. Amelia seemed to be the last thing on both of our minds. This was going to be awkward in the morning.
