Chapter 23

April 2013 - All Hell Breaks Loose

In an attempt to bring everyone happily together again, I planned a get together. Which, after this weekend, I’ve decided never again shall I organise a get together. This, by far is the worst weekend ever planned out by me. I am pretty sure at one point, everyone hated one another. Due to this weekend, many problems have risen.

It all started as soon as they walked through the door. Again, hidden emotions plus untold issues with an alarming amount of alcohol equals destruction. Sophie and Jake got back together after she kicked him out but they are still having their issues. Drew was invited and actually said yes which made Jake a little crazy. Chris and I weren’t at our best either. Ryan didn’t help. So, there was lots of drama before the drinking even started and it only got worse as the night progressed.

First of all, Sophie and Jake go into Ryan’s apartment and didn’t come back for like hours. When they did return, Sophie tells me that she and Jake just broke up. Since it happens regularly, I didn’t think much of it. That was however, until she told me of her feelings towards to Drew, “I think that I may still love him”

By this time, I was already up to my eyeballs in complications, “Soph, what do you mean?”

“Drew, I think I still want to be with him”

“What? You broke up with him over a year ago and now, only now, you think you want him back?”

Sophie looked down at her feet, trying to avoid looking me in the eyes, “Yeah…looks that way”

I sighed loudly and took a step back, rubbing my temples trying to understand the situation.

“Are you mad at me?”

When I looked at Sophie, I noticed that no matter how much I had to deal with, she had to deal with double the trouble, “No sweetie. I’m not mad at you. If Drew is who your heart lies with then so be it. You need to be completely sure of your feelings though because you can’t confess your love for Drew and then in a week want Jake back”

“I know. I know”

“So, if you are sure…” Sophie nodded while I explained, “…you are going to need to talk to Drew. Hopefully, he still feels that way about you”

Sophie walked off in search of Drew.

I was left there alone, until Chris wondered over to me. He wanted to talk to me but it had to be private. When I get asked to share a private conversation with someone, I always panic and think the worst. Unfortunately, in this case I was correct. Chris and I entered my bedroom and he shut the door. He had a worried look painted across his face. By then I knew that something was wrong.

“Amelia….” Chris repeated my name a few times while pacing around the room. I assumed he was thinking of what to say and how to put it. Something he only did if it was bad news.

“Is that all you wanted to tell me, that you can say my name?”

He stopped and looked at me, took a few short breaths and sat next to me, “Of course not. There is a point to this”

“Are we going to get there soon? We have guests”

“I know. I’m sorry. I hate to do this to you now, I was waiting for the right moment but there is never a right moment for this”

Great, he is going to tell me that he is dying or something, “Right time to tell me what?”

“I want you to know that this past year has been amazing and that I love you….”
