Later that day Johanna and I talk about the dream and she shrugs. "Beats me... Probably PTSD kicking you in the ass with your hormones... Have you talked to your mom?" I shake my head.
"She doesn't want anything to do with me." We both look at Peeta as he is making us lunch. "It's kinda sad how Peeta doesn't have any family." I stand and walk over to Peeta, wrapping my arms around him and kiss his neck.
"I'm his family." I whisper and he smiles. "Well I do have my grandparents, they have lived in District Eleven sense the rebellion." I look at him with a confused look. "Then why didn't they come to the wedding?" He giggles and kisses my lips.
"Because they couldn't, my grandad was sick... I wanted it to be a surprise but they're coming over today to meet you." "And me!" Johanna screams and I sigh. "Yes, Johanna too." A knock goes through the door and Peeta opens it to see someone from the train station.
"Your grandparents are waiting for you." We both smile. "We'll be there in ten minutes." Peeta and I get our boots on and our coats. We walk down to the train station and I see a plump old woman with a tray covered with tin foil.
The old man is standing beside her with a big smile. "Oh look Pat! There she is!" The woman says and rushes over to us. "Oh Peeta look at you, you've gotten so handsome." She says kissing his cheeks.
"Thank you, and you are looking lovely as well grandmother." She looks at me and smiles. "You must be Katniss! You are so beautiful." She says hugging me. "Thank you." She puts her hands on my growing baby bump and she smiles. "Oh my god! You're pregnant! Why are you out in the cold like this?" "Oh I just wanted-" "Come on let's get you home, you're going to catch a cold." She says ushering me down the road.
When we are back home his grandfather smiles. "Very beautiful, how many months are you my dear?" He asks and i smile. "About four right now." He grins and then Peeta's grandmother comes into the living room.
"Here, I made some butternut creams! Peeta was telling me you were craving something sweet." I laugh and Peeta walks in and grabs one, popping it into his mouth. "They are the best too, I can never make them like hers." "Darn tootin you can't! I have a special recipe." Johanna flies into the room and grabs one.
"Hello I'm Johanna! Mistress of Peeta Mellark!" Peeta's mouth drops and his grandmother slaps him. "Peeta!" His grandfather giggles and I clear my throat. "Johanna is a close friend of mine, she was just kidding... Peeta would never do that to me." She nods.
"Yeah I'm sorry, I like getting a rise out of people." Grandmother Mellark fixes her curly grey hair. "Indeed you did get a rise." I blush and she looks at me. "Oh dear, now look she's flushed... Go sit down dead and I'll make you a cup of tea." She rushes Into the kitchen as Peeta sits and sets me in his lap.
He rubs his thumb against the tight skin of my belly. The baby starts moving and I squirm; trying to fight off a flashback. Peeta kisses my lips and shushes me. "Calm down... It's okay." He says, still running his thumb against my belly.
The baby stops kicking and I sigh. Grandfather Mellark comes in and smiles when he sees us in this position. Peeta's grandmother comes in and hands me the cup of tea. "Thank you."
The baby starts kicking again and I try to keep myself under control as Peeta rubs my bump, trying to soothe the baby. As his grandmother drones on about cookies and cake recipes I have to leave the room.
I stand from Peeta's lap and everyone looks at me. There must be this crazed look in my eyes because they all stare. I clear my throat. "Excuse me, I'm going to go to the Hobb and talk with Sae... I'll be back in two hours." I kiss Peeta's lips softly and grab my leather jacket.
I walk out of the house and to Ripper. "What can I do for you Katniss?" She asks while she puts her stump in a sock to keep it warm. "I need termination pills." "I could get you... Wait did you say termination pills, as in terminating your pregnancy?" I nod slowly.
She sighs and grabs a box. She opens it and I see the capsules in their holder. She hands me it with some liquor. "Wash it down with some liquor every morning and the baby will be gone in about a week time." I nod a thank you and then she puts her only hand on mine with tears gleaming in her eyes.
"I'm so sorry it came down to this." I nod and put them both in my satchel. I walk over to Haymitch's and see him reading as he drinks some booze. "Hey sweetheart." I set the liquor and pills on his counter.
"What are those for?" He asks and I huff, grabbing my satchel and kiss his scruffy cheek. "My prenatal vitamins, just leave them there." I walk out if the house and back inside mine and Peeta's. everybody is now finishing up telling stories by the fire as Peeta is getting everyone settled for bed. I've been gone for more then five hours... Just talking at the Hobb.
I set down my satchel and sit in my chair, trying to take off my boots but it doesn't work because of my bump. Peeta kneels down in front of me and kisses my belly, I flinch. "Let me help you Katniss." He takes them off. I walk into our room.
I undo my braid, humming Deep In The Meadow. Then I put on one of Peeta's shirts and lay down in bed. He comes in after a hour and lays down next to me, wrapping his arms around me belly. "Goodnight Katniss, and goodnight baby." I slip his hands off my belly.
"Please stop Peeta." He flinches away. He stays still for a moment then turns on his side, facing the opposite direction from me. The next morning when I go to Haymitch's and take the first pill... I have one emotion going through me, fear.
