Chapter Forty Seven

I run with my bow, following where the man ran. I am running through a black alley and stop a sweat slides down my face where loose strands of dark hair stick to my cheeks.

"Come on, come on Kaden, give me a sign where you are, come on baby boy." That makes my head pound but then I hear soft sobbing echoing from a dark dirty house.

I put a arrow in my bow and start slowly walking towards the broken door. I stand at it and hear the mans voice talking harshly to Kaden. I peer through the window and see Kaden bruised and bloody from being beaten.

I feel rage boil into my blood. "I was the one who made your mommy forget you, and now she just thinks you're her hunting partner!" He laughs and I recognize this man. "She still loves me! I know she does!" He slaps Kaden. "I made sure, she'll never remember you again." "I just want my mommy." He says curling up in a ball.

Then I remember everything. I'm the sick mother, I'm Kaden and Willows mother, they are my kids and that man is the one who almost killed me with the attacks in the arena. I kick down the door and put my arrow to his throat.

"Don't you dare touch my son." He chuckles. "Looks like the MockingJay finally got some brains to remember her family." And then one blow to the stomach from his large fist brings me to my knees. He then brings a fist to my jaw making it crack as it breaks, blood sprays from my mouth.

Then he keeps beating me as I try fighting back but he's to big, he's too much. I lay there on the floor in a puddle of blood as Kaden cries. "Mama! Mama!" He crawls off the floor and moves to my broken ribs sobbing as I gasp while one of my ribs punctured my lungs wheeze. "Get off your mother." The man says and Kaden does as told.

The man straddles me and smiles. "You know MockingJay you fight well... To bad I'm going to mess you up for life." He pulls out a syringe and puts the sharp tip against my skin as I gasp. "I'll make sure you never remember your family." Then I stop him by putting my lips to his ear.

"I know who you are... I know what you want... I know you didn't die... And you want to put the games back in place so we... I can pay. You wanted to live for your district but you didn't have to hurt me or my son." I see the glint in his blue eyes and he swallows.

"You don't know me, I work for the Capitol." "Cato... Your home is District One, just let me go and my son and I will leave without telling anyone." He pulls down his hood to show me his shaved head with scars all over his face, one eye red... The other completely black. You can tell it's Cato though. He chuckles.

"Does it look like me? I'm a monster... A monster controlled by the Capitol, the Capitol in some parts hate you and they sent me here to kill you and everything you loved." I put a hand on his scarred cheek as I grab the syringe from his clenched hand. "Cato you're not a monster, your human... Please listen to me." I give him a grin with blood running down my chin.

"You got me! It's only a matter of time before I die, before I leave my son who's five and my daughter who's ten... And Peeta my husband." I'm gasping now with a wheeze in between as he looks at the tears rolling down my cheeks as I keep grinning. "If you really are a monster then kill me now, with my son watching." I clench my teeth in pain.

"Do it... I'm ready to die." He goes for the fatal blow to my temple but it's to late, the syringe is in his neck and I let the liquid pour into him. He screams in pain and holds the syringe in his neck. Tears run down his cheeks and he starts sobbing hysterically.

"No I can't die! I can't die! Please god no!" I shush him and put my hands on his cheeks so he's looking it my eyes. "Cato it's okay just let go I'm here with you." "Katniss, please Katniss no no no." Then I see the life slowly disappearing from his eyes and I shush him and he looks into my eyes before he dies and says one thing.

"You're lucky." I lay his body on the bloody floor and see Kaden shaking as he looks at me. "I stand with a grimace and look at my leather jacket. Covered in blood and rips. I pick it up and grab Kaden's hand.

"Mommy?" I look into his eyes an swallow. "Yes?" "You need to go see the doctor mommy, your bleeding." I giggle and nod. "I think I should go see a doctor." "Mommy?" "Yeah Buddy?" "Don't leave me ever again mommy."
