Chapter Twenty Nine

Katniss's POV

I walk into the Hobb and everyone waves and says hi. Willow is holding onto my hand as I am going to trade some game and I see Sae working at her counter.

I walk over to her and she grins. "Well hello little lady." She says to Willow as Willow grabs onto a ring in her jewelry box where I got my mockingjay pin.

"Willow that isn't yours." I say. "Naw she can keep it." She squeals and puts it on her finger. Sae looks at my growing stomach. "Peeta knocked you up again?" I put my hand on my small bump. "It was twins actually... I lost the girl." Sae frowns. "I'm so sorry Katniss."

Then she smiles. "Your daddy would be so proud of you." I scoff as Willow puts her face against my belly. "Come on Sae, nobody decent would be proud of what I've done." "What? You calling me in decent." She says with a giggle and I grin.

"It's hard to be proud of someone like me." "I'm proud of you mommy." I look down at Willow who has her arms wrapped around my waist, her curly brown hair falling around her shoulders. I scoop her up and she squeals, as I kiss her cheek. "Baby, thank you." I whisper and she kisses my nose. "You know what mommy?" She says resting her four head against mine.

I smile. "What baby?" "You're the best mommy ever." I grin and kiss her four head. Sae then hands me some coins for trading some squirrels with her. "You tell me if you guys are having a baby shower, I want to buy the baby something." I nod and look at the time on Sae's watch. "Oh Willow! You're going to be late for school!" I say and I wave to Sae as we walk out quickly.

I drop her off to school and walk past the mothers who are chatting until. "Hey Katniss!" I turn and see a few mothers walk over to me. "Hi." Is all I say. "Look at you!" They coo at me and I raise my eyebrows. "What about me?" One puts her hands on my belly and the baby starts kicking softly, I move her hands away gently. "I don't like the baby kicking." I say quietly as they frown.

"Why?" One asks and I shrug. "I don't have to tell you." I say quietly. "Aren't you excited for this pregnancy?" "No... I already lost one, and the one I'm carrying now might be blind or deaf, now please leave me alone." I walk away and look at the ground that still has traces of ash on the ground that dance at every footstep I take.

I run right into someone and we both fall over. Their hands instantly go to my belly and mine go over their hands. I look down and see Peeta's blue eyes shining. He laughs and kisses my lips softly. "Hey." I giggle and rest my head on his chest as we are right in the middle of our street of the victors village, by the gate. "Hey." I whisper and he leaves a small peck on my neck.

"How are you and the baby?" "We're fine." I say and he helps me up. "So, Johanna learnt something today." He says as we walk into the house where the floor boards creak. "What?" He smiles and puts a hand on my belly. "Johanna's pregnant too." I laugh and then we both see a flash of Johanna going across the hall to the toilet to vomit, with Chip flying after her.

"Well I see that morning sickness is taking it's toll." I say with a chuckle. "SHUT UP KATNISS!!!!!!" She screams as she starts getting sick again. Later that day as I have my head in Peeta's lap as he draws me Willow comes in and sets her bag down.

"Hey Willow how was school?" She jumps on the couch and straddles my hips. "Mommy, did you know a soldier Gale Hawthorne?" I get quiet and so does Peeta. I nod slightly. "He came into school and was talking about the war... He said you were a soldier too mommy, and Johanna, even daddy."

Johanna and Chip walk in and their mouths drop. "Yes Willow, we did fight in the war... You'll know more later." She nods and then she kisses my nose. "Mommy, I'm very VERY proud of you... Thank you for keeping me safe." She hugs me.

"You're welcome baby." She runs up the stairs giggling and I rub the tears from my eyes, Peeta rubs my back. "I'm pissed." I say and Peeta shushes me. "Katniss-" "No! She's too young to know about us having a part in the Rebellion! I was going to tell her later!" Then I start shaking and gasping.

"She knows I'm a killer..." "Katniss." Peeta says and I get up quickly. "I need to go." I try to run but Johanna pins me to the wall. "You can't run from the past Katniss! Willow's going to find out sooner or later, and so is the one you are carrying, deaf or blind he will." I crumple to my knees, with weakness and what is dawning on me.

"They'll know about my crimes, they'll know about how Peeta and I met, they'll know I was the one to kill millions of innocent people.
