In this chapter, I've had to give Bart a kind of different personality based on what we saw at the end of YJ 'Bloodlines'. He isn't really the usual bubbly guy we see in further episodes, but that may just be because of who he's with. I'm literally only saying this so you guys don't get confused at how I could possibly mess up his character so bad.

I heard footsteps behind me, instantly recognising who it was, "Bart, don't go." She pleaded.
I looked behind me and gazed at her beautiful face. I loved her soft skin, her beautiful E/C eyes, the way her whole face lights up when she smiles, the way her laugh can make me feel like I'm somewhere other than this apocalyptic place. I would do anything to just have a perfect life with my beautiful Y/N, without having to worry about The Reach each and every day.
The past few years had been... Hard. Wally died saving me from being captured by one of the Reach. Then we found Y/N. She had managed to escape from one of the camps, and was living off of whatever scraps she could find. Of course, we took her in and we became super close. Eventually, we started 'dating'. I mean, you can't really call it that considering most of Gotham's been levelled, but you get the idea.
When Y/N found out that I was fixing up an old time machine, she was completely against me using it. She kept telling me how dangerous time was, and how pretty much anything and everything could go wrong. Of course, I never listened. So here I was today, almost ready to go.
I twisted around and zipped over to her, engulfing her in a bone-crushing hug. The stones skidded under my feet and I was thankful that Wally had made these for me, regular boots would be ripped to pieces in seconds going at my speed. She gasped, unsuspecting it, then relaxed into my arms. I buried my nose into her H/C hair.
"I don't want to go, N/N, but I have to. I could stop the entire Reach apocalypse. I could save Grandpa Barry. I could make a whole new timeline where none of this Reach-invading stuff happens!" I exclaimed.
She pulled back and held me at arm's length. With a slight frown on her face, she replied, "If you have to go, then let me come with you. I don't want you getting hurt."
"No! No, I want to know you're safe. I want to know for a fact that you're having a crash time and you're happy."
"Bart, I could never be happy without you,"
A salty tear streamed down her left cheek, and I wiped it away with my thumb.
"Hey, hey, don't cry." I shushed her as a man dressed in orange overalls with an inhibitor collar on approached.
"How's it coming?" He asked.
"Almost finished," I answered, looking away from Y/N for a second.
"Wish I could come along."
"Sorry, only seats one. Besides, if it could fit two of us Y/N would be coming."
He gave a nod of understanding before continuing, "You understand the trip to the past will fry the machine's circuitry? This is a one-way ticket."
"Does this," I gestured to the mounds of dirt and gravel around us, "look like a future worth returning to?"
Y/N looked at me sadly, leaning in to kiss my cheek. I sighed in annoyance that I had to leave now, then let go of her and walked closer to the man.
"Well, I better get in character... Neutron." I stated, as cheerfully as I could.
"Please! Don't use that name!" He shouted, "I was Neutron for too many years. Through too much destruction." He looked down at the ground, the turned to me as I zoomed to him now wearing my costume.
"You know, curing me, and saving Flash's life... That's only the begging."
"I know, Nathaniel. Big mission. Lots to do. Better get to it." I weakly smiled.
I zipped over to Y/N and gave her one last hug, before kissing her. I savoured the feel of her lips against mine, cursing myself for leaving her.
"N/N, I love you... No matter what. Don't ever forget that, okay?"
She nodded, "Promise me you'll stay safe?"
"Always." I smiled slightly at her.
Sadly, I walked to the metal machine, scraping the soles of my boots on the floor. Creaking, the door slid open and I hopped in. After I closed the door, I pressed a few of the buttons and prepared for the journey. I looked out of the tiny window to take a mental picture of my beautiful N/N's face but my breath hitched in my throat at what I saw.
One of the genetically enhanced watcher dogs from the Reach was charging up behind Nathaniel. I shouted out to him, but he didn't hear. I painfully watched every attosecond when the black dog's teeth sank effortlessly into his leg. My eyes widened when I saw another one of those vile creatures head for Y/N. I yelled, screamed at her to turn around, but before I could see what happened next, I was swept up by a blue light and taken into the past.
I cursed myself, kicking the inside of the machine and almost ripping my auburn hair out. I was shell shocked. All this... Was to keep Y/N safe- and now.... I don't- she could be dead! I could feel my breath come out in short bursts through my open mouth and sat back, heart thumping almost out of my chest. Quickly realising I had arrived, I got my head back in the game. I was here to save at least a thousand lives. I had to make it look unsuspicious.
I placed on a fake grin and pulled down my tinted goggles, pressing the purple button that opened the door. Smoke drifted out of the base, and I jumped up, throwing my hands beside my head.
"Tadaaa!"

Yeah, that was a terribly non-canon based chapter. Meh, but it's long-ish. So I hope you like it.
