Diego de la Cruz

Diego lives with his grandmother, Maria de los Santos. His parents were killed in a car accident that he survived when he was five. He is deeply in love with Riley. He is also very involved in the church choir and in the youth group activities of his church. He's Catholic and prepares for a special choir performance at the Basilica in St. Louis during the story. (He looks kind of like Jake Austin.)

Riley Kendrick

Riley is about 5'6" with green eyes. She can sometimes be a little shallow, but is mostly very sweet and loving. A little naive, she likes to be taken seriously at times. She's really into Diego and cheer-leading. Because of her recent injury, she feels like she is letting her team down, especially as the homecoming prep rally and performance is just two weeks away. (She looks like a young Emma Stone.)

Lin Becker

Lin in the descendant of a Chinese woman and a white business man. She is pretty open to diversity and very intelligent. She is highly achievement-oriented and is in the running to be valedictorian for her class. She has been friends with Riley since middle school and despises cheerleading as a patriarchal institution. She plays volleyball for the school. She just started getting really close to Dominic Morris. She tells Riley that she can't believe how in love with him she is. (Looks like Kim Tae Hee)
