not fireworks, bombs

"Pipe bomb, it did some damage, but it was precisely built. I'd say the creator knew what they were doing."

She bit her lip, maybe she should have stayed home. It had been three hours after the explosion. She helped clean up, but they were moved to a different floor. She did get to eat with him, but the air was uneasy and there was a lingering bad feeling.

"Luckily it was an LE, no one got hurt."

She moved on to biting her nails. Spencer has to deal with things like this on a regular basis? How?

"There wasn't a signiture match, but the signiture is that this bomber uses handmade product, organic stuff. This mitre is typically used for fertilizer, but they added a few more ingredients."

She sucked in a breath, gasping at this mention. An old flame, he liked to make things explode, reason why they broke up, but she never thought he would harm anyone like that.

"What is it Karyn?"

He looked concerned, searching for any sign of scrapes, cuts, bruises, and he found none.

"Franklyn Watkinson."

Barely above a whisper, but it was heard.

"Who's that?"

"He could be your bomber. Question him or something. I know him, he used to blow stuff up for his eco-terrorist group. After his leader was brought in, I figured he'd stop but I guess I was wrong."

He raised an eyebrow.

"How do you know him?"

"I used to date him, but he liked to blow stuff up and I told him to stop, he was just addicted to it."

He touched her shoulder softly, his way of saying thank you to her. He looked over to Aaron Hotchner, his boss, nodding.

"Garcia, get us all the information on Franklyn Watkinson."

"Yes sir."

Aaron made his way over to her and Spencer, she looked up at him. He had kind eyes.

"Karyn Novak, I'm S.S.A. Aaron Hotchner, would you mind telling me everything you know about Franklyn Watkinson?"

He was using two sources to get information, to double check.

She nodded and Aaron looked at Spencer. Spencer patted her shoulder before leaving and allowing Karyn to tell Aaron everything.

"We met through my best friend, Addien Jefferson, she introduced us and we instantly hit it off. After about three months, he started disappearing a lot, and he even started going to protests that would usually end up turning violent. He was saying that there were chemicals in our food, killing us. He wanted to do something about it. He started placing bombs in front of company buildings, his group had this big plan to blow up an actual company, but I called in the police, I couldn't sit and let him do that. His leader was arrested and I broke up with him. It was a rocky break up, a few friends wanted me to take a restraining order out on him, but I never did."

"Why didn't you?"

"Well, I had talked to him first. Told him that I would if he didn't stop harassing me, and he listened."

She bit her lip and sighed, twiddling her thumbs.

"Any idea why he would start these bombings up again?"

"Taking revenge on the people who got his leader arrested?"

She wasn't sure if her theory was correct, but if it was, she would be a target, cause she called the police in the first place.

"If that's true, then you are a target. Reid was right not to let you go home, this bomb could have been sent here for you."

The fear of this situation finally dawned on her, she knew she shouldn't have gotten into the dumb shit she did when she was younger.

"We don't have to be defined by the things we did or didn't do in our past. Some people allow themselves to be controlled by regret. Maybe it's a regret, maybe it's not. It's merely something that happened. Get over it"
