A Memory Of Terror [Levi | Reader | Modern AU!]

You were able to feel your muscles on their way to convulse as you ran up the stairs, following behind Levi and Erwin. You could only ask yourself if Hanji, Mike and Nanaba had already found a safe place from "them". You had different classes when it happened so before you could get together all hell broke loose and you had to run for your lives - literally. 

Your head was pounding and your thoughts were frantic, you felt like you could just lie down and cry for the rest of the day but you were fully aware of the fact that there was no time for that. You heard your name being screamed and when you looked up you witnessed Levi's widened eyes on yours while Erwin was already sprinting down the stairs with Levi's bat in his hand.

You didn't know how you got on the ground - back pressed against the cold wall - but you could hear your heart beat rapidly in your ribcage when your gaze fell upon the corpse that was reaching out for you. 

You tried to reach for your own bat only to find out it was in the zombie's hand that was limping by its side when it neared you. Its hands were only a few inches from you when you closed your eyes and the tears in your them broke free, rolling down your cheeks and staining your bloody shirt. 

Suddenly there was Erwin's voice and something cutting through air sharply before you felt something wet dripping onto your bare legs. When you opened your eyes you saw the zombie fall down on its knees and you were pulled up by the forearm by Erwin. With the zombie's blood on your knees and thighs you ran up the stairs with Erwin's arm over your shoulders where Levi waited for you both. 

You let Erwin rest by the metal railing of the rooftop while you and Levi stuffed the end of the staircase with various objects to keep the corpses from getting to you three. 

After you were done you were going to sit down but you felt Levi's gaze on you. The bruises all over your body were visible from the poor uniform your school had. You tried to calm down the headache that was bubbling inside of your skull but the dull thumping inside of your head wouldn't stop - it felt as if someone was hitting the inside of your skull with a dull hammer or something. 

"Erwin? Are you sure you're okay?" You asked to distract yourself from the immense pain building up in your head as you turned to face the blond with furrowed eyebrows. 

"Actually..." He coughed up and put a hand in front of his mouth, blood spilling inbetween his fingers and falling onto the ground. You went closer to him and held his shoulders while staring at him with wide concerned eyes. "... I think I would need a favour from you, Levi."

You turned to look at said raven haired male as his narrowed gaze was staring right into Erwin's ocean blue hues. There was no mercy inside of those gunmetal eyes. His face grew dark as if he already knew what Erwin would ask of him.

"W-What could you want of him in such time, Erwin? I mean... isn't it better to leave favours for later, when we get out of here?" You asked with a slight smile but worry was already etching itself onto your features. You had a feeling of what the favour was as well, you didn't want to hear it being voiced out though.

"(Y/N), just... be strong, okay?" The request made your face twist in horror as you watched Erwin cough up again, blood splattering all over the ground in front of him. In your peripheral vision you could see Levi slowly closing his eyes with an exhale as his grip on the bat's handle tightened. Your eyes widened and you turned to face Levi fully, arms still around Erwin's broad shoulders as he tried to stop his coughing.

"Y-You're not seriously thinking about it, are you?" You questioned the raven who gave no answer and you could feel tears once again build up in your eyes. "... Are you?" Your voice trembled and your arms left Erwin's body. "E-Erwin's gonna be f-fine, it was just a small b-bite..."
