"We need to discuss... that." You followed Levi out of the room after the meeting with all your superiors, trying to reach out to him despite knowing he'd be extra distant. You realised you were both knights and you had no rights whatsoever to get into a relationship, but you hoped after a real long talk he would profess his love for you or something. "Just so you know, I wouldn't really say 'holy molly' unless under the influence of---"

He spun around abruptly, making you freeze on your spot as your half-assed joke was being cut off by his glare. "This isn't a joking matter. We also have nothing to discuss. I admit it would've been different if I were thirty-seven and you thirty, or me thirty and you twenty-three, but---"

"You know, that's a bit too much math for someone who's trying to say he's not interested." You crossed your arms in front of your chest with a smirk, trying to fight the serious atmosphere he was attempting to create around you, but all you received in return was another glare.

"I am not interested in you. I'm your superior, I'm seven years older and I'm not attracted to you. It was just a magic charm." He snapped coldly, making your features twist in a pained expression. Had he blinked he would've probably missed it because it didn't take you long to remember you were supposed to be just as composed as him. It wasn't like you actually expected a love confession, but to say you weren't hurt after what had happened under the influence of the magic charm was going to be a big fat lie.

"Alright." You said, choking back an argument before your superior showed up behind you.

"The mage wanted to talk to you. He requested you go alone? Can I trust you with this, (Y/N)?" Erwin, the leader of your group of knights was standing there, eyeing you and Levi up with his calculating orbs. You instinctively stepped back a bit and turned to face the blond with a serious expression, an expression all knights should have on their faces at all times.

Before you could speak, however, Levi answered. "She's not going."

"Actually, I'll gladly see him. Maybe I can get more information out of him." You glared at Levi before bowing lightly in Erwin's direction and taking your leave. You didn't want to be bossed around by somebody who didn't even know you. Of course, Levi did know you well enough, but obviously not enough as to know which of his words would hurt you and your pride.

"It was just a magic charm."

Surely enough you wouldn't ever be offered the honour of him kissing you unless under the influence of such a charm. The thought made your heart clench in your ribcage as you paced down the hallways of the castle towards the dungeons. The stone walls were damp and disgusting, there was moss in the corners of the space which you were sure Levi would hate to even look at. Of course, he could fight dragons but he couldn't look at moss without getting the urge to puke.

"What do you want?" You asked curtly once having stopped in front of the last of all cells at the end of the narrow corridor. The man behind the rusty metal bars looked up from the ground to meet your gaze in a way that made you want to punch him. For such an old man who had just lost everything, his smirk was sickeningly entertained as he looked at you.

"Not so harshly, (Y/N). I wanted to congratulate you on your victory. How is Krista doing?" He asked politely, a little tone of satisfaction dancing around his words. Your eyebrow twitched and you considered reaching behind the bars and grasping the collar of his ripped robe, but it was useless when he'd only probably continue to smirk at you.

"Is this all you called me for? To learn more about the princess?" You questioned angrily, unable to tame the wrathful note in your voice, to which he only smirked. A small flicker of amusement ran across the surface of his emerald orbs as he opened his mouth to speak again.
