"Thanks for driving me home, Mr. Ackerman. I appreciate it. A lot."

"Well, it's not like I'm heartless enough to leave you to freeze outside." He shrugged and she looked him up and down, managing to do so without him becoming aware of the gesture. She fiddled with her backpack for her key, fishing them out and waving awkwardly goodbye to him.

"I guess I'll see you soon, Mr. Ackerman."

"You're still on that formal bullshit?" He shoved his hand in his coat pocket, digging out a pack of cigarettes and brining one to his lips as she just witnessed the action and her eyes traced the lines of his slender fingers as he used his lighter to light up the cigarette and then inhale once as she spoke, out of her small daze:

"It's innapropriate to call a person ranked higher than yourself by first name even outside of any kind of workplace." She blurted out quickly and professionally, having learned that one phrase by heart by the time she was on duty from two months as a federal agent.

"Fine, fine. I get you won't give up with this."

Levi got the cigarette out of his mouth and held it between his fingers as his eyebrows knitted together in slight aggrivation over her stubbornness, then with a sligh sigh he and exhaled the smoke of the cancer stick from his mouth.

She stared as it made its way inbetween his slightly parted lips and then rouse up above him as a halo, disappearing into the dark sky and mashing up with the cold night air on the street. Snapping her eyes back to his closed ones, the cigarette once again inbetween his thin lips, she rolled her eyes.

"I won't."

"Fine then. Bye, (L/N)."

"Bye." She waved slightly and watched as he got in his car, the cigarette slightly drooping down from the edge of his bottom lip as he fired the engine once again and put the window down, giving her a last glance before he nodded curtly back and left her standing all alone on the street, with her ever so slight irritation at the fact she was so vulnerable towards him, without having him doing a damn thing.

With a sigh, knowing anything wouldn't change if there wasn't some really critic case of attitude on his side; she unlocked her apartment and entered inside, greeted by the darkness of the rooms, their cold air seeping into her skin through the layers of her clothing; the hostile picture of a home that seemingly wasn't benefit for her at all as cozy as it could be at times.

Thinking she was finally all alone and no one was near her, (Y/N) stood at the far off side of the campus a few days later, her phone still vibrating in her palm, Petra's name and phone number popping out on the bright screen. The woman gulped and pressed the green button, putting the device up to her ear as Petra's voice rang from the speaker.

"Hey, (Y/N). How are you? Did you decide anything?" The ginger went straight to the point, making the (dark/light) haired woman almost sigh as she sat down and her back pressed against the building, no windows close by for anyone to be able to eavesdrop on their converse once again.

"I'm fine. Essays are tiring me out. I... think I have a decision for the argument we had."

"And it is?"

"Give me two more weeks." The female stated straightforwardly as if she was dealing with a boss of hers, someone superior she feared and yet in the same time wanted to have him fear her.

Petra was never more superior than (Y/N), but in this precise moment the fate of the most important case of her career was laying in her hands and even if she couldn't sugarcoat things as well as others did, determination had always been a thing about her making her look superior and serious herself, forcing other people to believe in her more and quite often comply to whatever she suggested.
