"And we are here because?"

The space was silent for a second. Nothing moved as the gelidity of the raven's voice cut through the evening air; only the sunset illuminated the windows of the two-storey house the three friends stood in front of. The raven glared at the small golden button which served as a doorbell, next to the massive oak door while the redhead by his side was more than willing to explain their reasoning.

"Because (Y/N) is fond of you and she specifically requested your presence." Isabel spoke excitedly, making Levi roll his eyes and then direct them towards the blond male on his other side.

"Don't be an idiot, Isabel. The brat's more likely to shit her pants instead of like me. Now the real reason why I'm here with you?"

Farlan smiled at his best friend, knowing that Levi would doubt the fondness you had developed for him until the very end of the world. But just because adults were scared of him didn't mean kids were as well. Someone particular both Farlan and Isabel knew had probably sniffed the kindness inside of the grumpy raven's heart, growing attached as soon as that happened.

"Isabel's being honest, Levi. Since the first time we babysat her together, she hasn't stopped talking about you and asking when you'd finally come to see her again." Farlan crossed his arms and Levi scoffed.

"And you think I care because?"

"Because she's the cutest cinnamon roll and it's impossible to refuse when she gives you the look!" Isabel cooed loudly, making Levi cringe because of the proximity her mouth had with his ear. With a sigh, the raven waited exactly five seconds before clicking his tongue and gesturing with his head towards the doorbell in defeat.

"Whatever. Just ring the fucking doorbell already."

Isabel squealed loudly in excitement, making both Farlan and Levi cringe and lift their hands in the air in an attempt to muffle the obnoxious sounds that exited their friend's lips. Before they could do so, however, the redhead's squeaks came to a halt and her hands frantically reached towards the aforementioned small button. A short, sweet melody poured within the house and in a few seconds, the loud voice of a child was heard.

"I'm coming!"

After those words, the three friends heard small footsteps quickly advance towards the door. Isabel had a shit-eating grin on her face, Farlan was smiling softly and Levi just stood there with crossed arms and a frown, hoping his time wouldn't be majorly wasted with an activity he didn't even sign up willingly for. Approximately ten seconds later, the trio heard the fumbling of the key inside the lock alongside a line of muffled innocent curses. Levi's eyebrows raised ever so slightly at the words 'grasshole of a door', 'son of a biscuit' and 'what the caramel apple' mostly because the originals were not meant for a child's vocabulary.

A single innocently arranged curse later the 'grasshole of a door' opened and the trio was met with your giant grin. "Farlan, Isabel!" You pounced on the redheaded girl, who took you in her arms with a loud squeal indicating her mutual excitement to see you.

After you hugged the hell out of each other and ceased the production of the ever so unpleasant noises called 'squeals' (which Levi would've rather named 'banshee screams'), you let go of each other and your small body jumped into Farlan's embrace next. With him, the hug was shorter but just as intense and after you parted you turned to face Levi and he could literally see the spark of joy light up your eyes. A shit-eating grin stood on your lips when you pounced on the raven's waist, catching him by surprise and making him step back briefly.

His hands stood awkwardly behind your back as he tried not to touch you, his face frozen in a state between disgust, bewilderment and shock - who knew where your hands had been before you hugged him or if you'd rolled around in a puddle or done whatever other unsanitary thing kids did these days to entertain themselves.
