"You know him?" Liam asks me. I barely hear him, the loud music in combination with yelling people and me being tired makes it hard to form a sentence with what I heard.
"No." I shortly answer.
"You better stay away from him." He warns me while looking above me. I know I'm short but it frustrates me when people make me feel even smaller than I am.
"Why? You know him?"
"We're not close but I heard people talk about him." Liam says, still not looking at me. We both look at Alison who's dancing with Harry. They are actually cute together.
"I heard that he and Harry used to play girls." He says. "I believe Harry is sick of it and wants a real relationship with Alison but Louis is still the old."
I nod, not looking away from the dancing couple. Harry can't be faking this, the way he smiles and looks at her.. They're in love.
"He seemed nice." I say while thinking of him trying to dry my shirt and kept apologizing for bumping into me and spilling his drink on me. But now Liam tells me this, I start doubting if he wasn't faking.
"Maddy I warn you, he's no good."
Liam says. "You deserve more than someone like him."
I smile, a sad smile really, not knowing what to say.
"Maddy, we need to go. Lucas is waiting outside." Alison says.
I'm very thankful she didn't drink in my presence. I give Liam a quick hug before heading outside. I totally forgot about my father. I check my phone; no messages or calls. That can be a very good sign, but a very bad as well.
We get in the car and Alison immediately starts rambling about Harry and how sweet he is. I shut myself off completely while staring out of the window until I hear my name. "Maddy you still owe me an explanation." She says, her grey eyes looking right through me.
"When you were getting us a drink he bumped into me and spilled his drink all over me." I say. "He took me to the restroom and helped me cleaning and stuff. We talked a little and then he disappeared. And when I found you I saw him again and I was surprised that that was the friend you told me about."
"Oh that's so romantic!"
"No it's not. Liam told me that he is used to play girls all the time."
"But.. Maybe things are different when he gets to know the real you?"
"I don't think so, Liam was pretty serious. I think he knows Louis."
I decide not to tell her about Harry, they're so happy now and I don't see the point of ruining that.
"Oh, now you never know." She says. Maybe she can be the kind of girl a guy changes for but I don't. I know he probably thinks I'm ugly or fat and doesn't want to talk to me ever again. I don't see an other explanation for him disappearing than that he doesn't like me at all. So I'm not hoping or 'never know'-ing cause that only leads to a broken heart, and I had a broken heart once too much.
"What about Liam? You seem to like him." She asks. I'm glad she changes the subject cause I don't want to think about Louis and him not liking me anymore.
"Yea he's nice." I say. I really like Liam, he could be a very good friend but I don't think we will be more than that.
"Nice?"
"Yea nice."
"Come on Maddy, if you ever want a boyfriend you should stop with thinking a damn hot and perfect boy for you is only nice."
"I don't know, I just don't feel it."
"That feeling can come later on, look at me and Harry."
"You guys are official?"
"Yup." She says, dropping the p. The enthusiasm literally rolling from her lips.
"I'm so happy for you." I say and pull her body against mine.
"Here you are." Lucas says and stops the car a few meters away from my house. I thank him and kiss my friend on the cheek before getting out the car. I slowly walk to the backdoor, but it's closed. I swear I left it open when I left.
Shit, my dad must have closed it.
Again that can be a very good or a very bad sign. What now? All the doors are closed and the windows too. Except one window on the first floor, I left the small, high window of the bathroom open. I can't see a thing here so I have to be very careful, my dad is no fast sleeper so he wakes up from the lightest noise.
I see no other way then climbing up to the window using a few chairs so I make my way to the table and take two chairs. I put them down right under the window and build the firmest tower ever builded by a human being.
Now, now starts the real work; climbing.
Easy and carefully I climb up the chairs so I can reach the high window. I push it open with one hand and slide the other one inside. I use all my strength to pull my body up and after a few times failing I can finally slide my body through the small window. I balance myself on the sink before landing on the concrete floor. "Good job agent Hudson" I whisper to myself.
*Louis' POV*
"You like her don't you."
"No curls let it go, I don't like her. She's nothing but another girl." I let myself fall onto the couch.
Okay she wasn't ugly but that's all. I don't like her, I mean she was nice and she has kind of beautiful eyes but there's nothing special about her. Nothing that would make her different from the other girls I've played.
"I saw how you looked at her Tommo."
"I look at every girl like that." I protest and stand up from my seat again. "Besides even if I liked her, what I don't, then I still wouldn't date her. That's not what I do."
"Oh right, totally forgot you are a prick." He sarcastically says, what is he even complaining about, not even five days ago he was just like me. What did that Alison girl feed him?
"Maybe you should change 'what you do' for once and respect women."
The frown on his face makes him look like my dad and that doesn't please me at all.
"Not gonna happen." I say and close the door of my bedroom with a small smash so a few papers fall from my desk to the floor. I don't care enough the clean it up.
