Chapter 4: A House Tangled up in Blue

*The Mikaelson Mansion-Morning*

Klaus wakes up and notices Caroline still asleep and takes her shirt off and throws it on the floor and then, gently puts his hand on her abdomen and felt the baby move. "Morning Nik." Caroline cheerily says happy. "Your awake?" He states. And then, he starts kissing her and she responds by putting her arm around his neck to bring him closer to her and then, he stops and gets out of bed and walks to his closet and grabs a black sweater for her to put on. "How do, I look?" Caroline asks. And then, he pulls her body close to him, "Very cheeky." And then, he left and went downstairs to the living room.

Caroline plops down on the floor, with yet another book, that has August 1359 written on it, she begins reading the book, completely ignoring the two originals and Claire, that are watching her from the doorway.

*Flashback- Somewhere in Europe- August 1359*

Elijah sits at a desk in a bedroom, he opens a plain book, to the next clean page and begins writing. 'I have noticed, a difference, in my siblings and I. Our bond, is straining beneath the pressure, of our vampire life. Each day, takes us, further away, from their humanity, we once, knew and possessed. My sweet little sister Rebekah, has grown quite indifferently in brutality.'

*Flash- Rebekah- Earlier in that Day of the Diary Entry*

Rebekah flashes through forest to stop in front of a man. Blood covers her clothes and her face which is showing her vampire features. The man, lets out a startled gasp, "P...Please young... la...lady. I do not... mean you, any harm?" The man stutters, whilst fumbling, with through his long coat, for any sharp object. Rebekah smirks and places her hands on his neck, "Oh, listen, to your heart flutter?" With that, she tears into his throat, splattering much blood as she can.

Soon enough, she pulls away and smiles gleefully at the sound, of more men riding closer as she drops the man to the ground. Moments later, 10 village men, ride into the forest clearing, they stop, when they see her. Without words, they began firing crossbows at her. She catches the arrows that aimed at heart and throws it back at one of the men, killing him instantly. The next few men, she just snaps their necks off but the final two men, have the pleasure of giving her sustenance.

*Flash- Back to Elijah writing his Diary*

'However, the true problem, remains in Niklaus!'

*Flashback- Italy- 1114*

Klaus stabs his sword into the first of Alexander's brothers, who choke on some blood and fall to the ground of Alexander's bedroom. Klaus mauls into their neck of another and stabs the rest, whilst blood splats everywhere. He pins a dying Alexander to the wall, with his sword and watches as the life leaves his eyes.

*Flashback- Back to Elijah writing his Diary*

He continues to hide his loneliness with cruelty. But I still, cling to the hope I, as their oldest brother, can lead them down, the correct path. A path, charged with the power, of the Mikaelson family, united as one. For, if I fail, I fear our family's legacy, will end in darkness.' Elijah places his feather pen down and places it under his chin. He sighs and stands, looking out the window, watching the stars come out.

*End of Flashback*

*Back in The Present*

Rebekah's dramatic sigh breaks Caroline's concentration. "Nik, I can't believe that you, disposed of those vampires without me. You do know, how I love, to setting things on fire!" Rebekah pouts at the end as Caroline shuts Elijah's diary. "You could've, invited me to help, because, they went after me and my sister?!" Claire complains and agrees with Rebekah. Klaus growls at their antics. "We,re you two just expecting me, to leave them out, in the front yard, to rot? They attacked, the helpless pregnant werewolf, who is carrying my child. Which makes it, therefore, my responsibility, to protect her and make her happy." Klaus looks Caroline's way as he speaks to Rebekah and Claire, Caroline doesn't miss the look in his eyes, that says he's not trying to offend her. "Seriously, you two get a room and those vampires, came after me too?!" Claire complains and reminds them. "Well, you see, the difference is Claire, I don't really, give a damn bout you!" Klaus remarks. Claire leaves the room upset, goes upstairs to her room; that she is sharing with Rebekah.
