Chapter 20: City Beneath the Sea

*Morning-Lafayette Cemetery*

Dahlia is seating on the ground behind a table with lit up candles and her hands in a grey bowl of blood. "We define ourselves by our family.' Back at the Compound, Klaus is laying daggered asleep in his coffin. Rebekah and Klaus looks over at his body. Dahlia continues and says, 'From birth we share their names.' Back at the Bayou Nighttime, Caroline is holding Faye in her arms and Jackson is taking the bags out of the black truck. 'Entrust them to protect that which what we hold most dear.' Aiden's Apartment, Josh walks in and takes his jacket off and sees a note on the dresser. 'We value them among all others.' Josh reads the note, 'Call me when you get home-A?' Josh looks heartbroken. 'And yet inevitably, we're forced apart!' Back in the Claire tomb, Davina is chanting a resurrection spell for Kol. 'Promises are made and left unkept?' Freya is at St. Louis Cathedral standing near the window looking at the moon holding her blue pendant necklace in her hand. 'Children turning their backs on them that raised them. Seeking lives of their own!' Back at the Cemetery, Dahlia is stirring the blood in a circular motion. 'The bond of family is not a bond forged by choice.' She smiles and links her mind to Klaus's and continues, "In fact, some would see family as a terrible burden!"

*Flashback-10th Century-Kingdom of Norway*

Klaus is seating on the ground near a wall and wakes up and Dahlia smiles and says, "And thus Niklaus you find urself here with me.... She walks over to him and he says scared, "Dahlia!" He looks down at his chest and sees the dagger gone and he asks, "What have you done to me?" She says nothing and he gets up and says, "Where's my daughter?" He vamps speeds over to her but she vanishes fast and appears leaning against the wall with a smile and he turns to her and yells, "Get out of my head!" She smiles and retorts, "I'm not in your head. Your in mine and seeing as you lay daggered by your own beloved brother you have no choice but to listen!" She takes a step forward and continues, "I have a proposition for you... She starts down the hill and says, "Come along!" He follows behind her.

*A Few Minutes Later*

He speaks and says, "Spare me the agonizing boredom and explain to me what you want?!" They stop walking and look at nearby village and she says sternly, "Quiet!" He responds and remarks, "I have no use for demented dreamscapes!" She responds and says sternly, "Niklaus listen!" He does and uses his hybrid hearing and hears screams and sees Vikings slaughtering people viciously with their swords. Esther is wearing a yellow dress and Dahlia is wearing a pink dress and they run and hide and Esther informs her scared, "The Vikings got in from the garden. I'm scared Dahlia." Dahlia smiles and cups her face with her hand and says, "Don't be, I'll protect us Esther." They hold hands and she continues, "We must remain together Always and Forever?" Esther nods and says, "I promise." Then they hum a song together and then suddenly Esther is grabbed from behind by a Viking and Dahlia puts her hands out and uses her magic on the Viking and he falls onto the ground. Two other guys put bags over their heads and grabs them and they struggle against them and yells, "Let us go!" The Vikings takes them to Mikael. Klaus responds and says, "Let me guess, the Vikings slaughtered the entire village?" Dahlia responds and admits pissed off, "Esther and I were the only ones who survived!" Klaus says nothing and she continues, "We promised to stick together... He nods and retorts, "Yes. Always and Forever, I'm familiar with the promise but then you knew that! So I supposed you think that makes us kindreds?" She responds and retorts, "Not exactly. What I mean to show you is that we can be allies!" He nods.

*A Few Hours Later*

The Vikings arrive at their destination and some of them walk in the mansion and sees Mikael seating on his throne and Mikael asks with a smile, "Is it done?" One of the guys speaks and says, "Yes, all dead. Except two girls!" Mikael nods and then one guy is holding Esther and the other guy is holding Dahlia and brings them in and Mikael commands to the guy before, "Unbag them, I want to see their faces!" The guy nods and takes the bags off and Esther and Dahlia look over to Mikael scared of what's to come. Mikael looks over to them intrigued and the guy comments, "Beautiful hmm?" Mikael nods and gets down from his throne and walks over to Esther and rest his hands on her legs underneath the dress and she flinches at his touch and he chuckles and asks, "What's your name?" She says nothing and then he tells the guy holding her, "Take her upstairs to my room." He nods and take her upstairs and opens the door to the room and throws her inside and he leaves and goes back downstairs.
