Shawn:
"I found the nurse!" Ryan said as he ran back into the room.
Jeanine now needs to have her third checkup for today.
As the nurse did her checks she just looked at me the entire time, standing across from her at the end of her bed. Her smile is already the same way it was, and she's been awake for a day.
"Well everything looks really good. It's almost strange because nobody ever came so clean out of a wreck you were in." The nurse said and Jeanine smiled at me again. "I had a guardian angel." She said and I felt the heat rising to my cheeks. "You're a very lucky girl Jeanine." She said and walked out. "I sure am." I heard her mumbling under her breath and I walked closer to her again.
"I believe someone is here to see you. He was scared to come since the accident, but I called him and he would like to see you." I said and her eyes grew big as she sat up.
"Is it Brian?" She asked softly and I nodded as he walked into the room. She clamped her hand over her mouth when he walked up to her and then she started crying. "Jeanine I'm so so-" but she cut him off. "I can't thank you enough for what you did." She said into the hug we all looked weirdly at her.
Nobody told her about Brian trying to save her and what he did when the crash happened.
"How do you know?" I aksed and sat down beside her again. "I dreamt it. I dreamt about the crash but I saw it in a third person view. I saw Brian hosling me back and when I went through he was the first one to pull me out between the cars. I could taste the blood though, in my mouth and then it all went black again and I couldn't breathe." She said and I realized that, that is what happened that night when I was with her and she started coughing.
I walked out of the room, needing some air and just to think things through.
It was about 10 minutes after when I heard Jeanine's voice.
"Hey." She said and rolled up to me in her wheelchair. "Jeanine, baby you should be in bed!" I said wanting to push her back but she locked the wheels and smiled up to me. "Well I want to be with you now." She said and I crouched down to her, between her legs as I rested my arms on her knees.
"What's up?" She asked and I sighed. She ran her hands through my hair and I smiled, so happy to feel that again.
"Jeanine. When I got that call from Brian saying that you were in the crash, it tore my life apart. When you got better, then you got worse again and I just realized how quickly you can be taken away from me. So it made me think. How I'll miss the touch of my one true love, your hands through my hair at the most random times, your kisses in the morning, evening and night. The way you just look at me sometimes with the biggest smile on your face, summing me up in your head but can't put it into words, your screaming over a FaceTime. I'll miss everything about you. So the thinking I did was, what if... what if this all happened and I lost you forever?" I said and the tears built up in my eyes.
"Don't say that." She whispered, brushing her fingers through the hair at the nape of my neck again. "But I have to. Otherwise the rest of my story won't make sense." I quickly said and she laughed, kissing my forehead as she leaned forward.
"But like I was saying, what if I lost you, and I thought about all the things we did, the way it all happened and everything we went through. Roses, will never be the same. My songs, will all be heartbreaking. And I'll regret the things we didn't do, or the times I didn't spent with you. So it made me think, that, if I come to the end of my life after loosing you, will I look back and know that I captured every moment I got? Where I took all the opportunities I was given?" I asked and she nodded, where I shook my head.
Her eyebrows furrowed together as she looked at me.
"No. Because one opportunity was to have you in my life, which I took without a second thought. And my next opportunity is to keep you there." I said and she smiled again, her cheeks glowing red.
I took out the ring from my back pocket again and she gasped, looking at me with tears pooling up in her eyes.
"Now I know this is really early, but after this week I'm not overthinking it any longer. I love you Jeanine, and like you know, loosing you is my biggest fear. But I won't let that happen. So.." I said and slipped the ting on her finger.
"Will you marry me?" I asked and she nodded as she crahsed her lips to mine. "I love you so much." She cried onto my shoulder and I kissed her neck, hugging her tight. "This is amazing." She laughed, taking a closer look at the ring.
"So beautiful. It really is one of those big rocks like you said on your birthday." She laughed and I cringed at the thought of drunk me on my party. "Well then, here's the twist in the tale. Take your prince charming back to the hospital bed." I said and sat down on her lap.
She groaned and I laughed as she tried rolling off to the room. I jumped off her lap and pushed her back into the room, picking her up and placing her down in bed before lying down next to her. "I love you so much." I said and kissed her again as the night falls.
