Chapter 12 Camp Melody

In the middle of class, Vanessa gets a text. 'You want to earn back your parent's money, you know how to get rid of it. -E' Vanessa gasp and Ericca looks over. Ericca whispers, "You ok Vanessa?" Vanessa nods her head and raises her hand. "Can I be excused" Vanessa asks. The teacher nods head and Vanessa heads to restroom. She goes into a stall and locks the door. She gets on her knees and sticks her finger down her throat. After a few minutes and attempts, she throws up her lunch. She flushes the toilet and walks out. She washes her hand and mouth. She goes to fry her hands. She sees a message on the paper towel.

'You're welcome. -E' "I really hate E" Vanessa mumbles. She crumples the paper towel and throws it in the trashcan. She reaches for the next one and sees three one hundred-dollar bills taped to hit. Her eyes go wide. She reaches for another one and sees another three one hundred-dollar bills tapped to hit. She smiles and reaches for another. There's nothing on it. She looks around and stuffs the two paper towels with the hundred-dollar bills in her purse. She goes back to class. Ericca looks at her with concern. Ericca asks, "Are you sure you're ok?" Vanessa looks at Ericca and smiles. Vanessa says, "Yeah, I'm ok." Ericca smiles back at her.

When the bell rings, signaling lunch is over, Monroe drops Lydia off at her class. "Can't you at least be nice to Estella while I'm around" asks Monroe. "I'll be civil with her when your around" says Lydia. Monroe says, "Thank you, that's all I ask." Monroe to her next class. She walks into the locker room. Only Estella is there. Estella says, "Monty-" "Don't" says Monroe. Monroe goes and change. When she is putting her clothes in her locker she asks, "Can't you pretend to be friends with her while I'm around, is that too hard to ask?" "I'll try" Estella says. Monroe says, "Thank you, you don't know how much that means. I know you really don't like her." Monroe smiles and drapes arm over Estella's shoulder. They walk out of the locker room.

Once school is over, they all meet at Estella's house. "Do we really have to go to camp Melody" asks Monroe. "Yes, we do. E will be there" says Ariella. Monroe just groans and asks, "What's the plan then?" Ariella says, "We go there and see if we can find E." "We will never find E that way" says Monroe. "What do you suggest then" asks Ericca. Monroe says, "We go, but someone sneaks off and acts as the look out. That way we have a better chance at catching E. I'll be the look out." Estella says, "Of course you volunteer."

That Friday

They arrive at Camp Melody. They walk up to Melody. "You made it" says Melody. "Against my will" mumbles Monroe. Ariella elbows Monroe. Melody asks, "What was that?" "I brought presents" Monroe says holdings up a couple presents. Melody takes them and gives Monroe a swag bag. Monroe reaches in and pulls out a Camo Melody t-shirt. Monroe says, "Subtle." Well go have fun. The group walk in and looks around. "Can I go now" Monroe asks. "Go" says Estella. Monroe walks off into the woods. Estella says, "Now lets' find E." The girls hit a couple of the tents while keeping an eye out for E.

They haven't seen Monroe or heard from her since she disappeared into the woods. "Well this is turning into a bust" says Ariella. Vanessa says, "It wasn't all bad, we did get free pampering." Estella's phone goes off. All the girls look at her. Estella says, "It's just Monroe. She says Nate is here." "Why is my brother here" asks Ericca. "Who knows" says Ariella. Ericca says, "Tell Monroe to keep a close eye on him." Vanessa asks, "Girls, Melody just walked into the woods." Estella says, "Go follow her since you're the closest to her. Monroe says ok." Vanessa gets up and follows Melody.

A couple seconds later Estella says, "Monroe says Nate is talking to Melody." "Vanessa texted me saying the same thing" says Ariella. Ericca asks, "Why is my brother sneaking out here and what is he talking to Melody about?" Ariella says, "Vanessa texted us to meet her and Monroe in the parking lot. They found something." They get up and walk to the parking lot. They don't see Vanessa or Monroe. They see Vanessa run out of the woods and to them. She is halfway to them when they see Monroe run out of the woods. Vanessa is running across the street when Ericca sees a car speeding her way.

Ericca screams, "Vanessa! Look out!" Vanessa stops and stares at the scare speeding at her with wide eyes. The car runs into her, sending her flying over the car. The car speeds off. Vanessa foes flying on the air and before she can fall onto the ground Monroe catches her. Monroe looks behind her to see the car speeding back. "Shit" Monroe screams and runs to the girls. The car keeps getting closer. Monroe tosses an unconscious Vanessa at Ariella and Ericca and continues to run from the car. Ericca and Ariella catch Vanessa and the car speeds past them continuing to pursue Monroe. Monroe gets tot eh end of the parking lot and leaps to her right.

The car manages to hit Monroe's legs as she leaps out of the way. The car speeds off into the night. Monroe goes flying head first into a stop sign post. She just lays there, not moving. Estella, Ericca, and Ariella are staring in horror at wat they witnessed. Estella is the first to break out of her shocked state and screams, "Monty!" She runs to Monroe. Ericca has Vanessa in her arms and sets her down on the ground. Ariella calls 911 for Vanessa and Monroe. Everyone from Camp Melody is walking out to the parking to see what all the commotion was about. Everyone able to see the scene, sees Ericca cradling Vanessa's head and Estella pressing a t-shirt to Monroe's head. They hear the ambulances in the distance.
