Chapter 13 You Can't Die On Me

Aria and Ezra burst into the hospital. They walk straight over to Ariella, Ericca, and Estella. Ericca is hugging a sobbing Estella, trying to calm her down. "How is she" Aria asks. "Last we heard, she was still in surgery" says Ariella. Aria and Ezra take a seat. Aria breaks out in tears and Ezra wraps his arm around her. He pulls her in close and runs his hand through her hair. He starts whispering to her. Ezra asks, "What exactly happened?" "Monroe wondered into the woods to avoid the party and she had been gone for a couple hours. Vanessa went looking for her. Ericca wanted to get something out of her car, so me, Ericca, and Ariella went to her car. We saw Vanessa exit the woods. She saw us and started walking over to us, when a car came out of nowhere and ran her over. Monroe came out of the woods a few seconds later. Another car came speeding down the road and it was a drunk driver because the car kept swerving. Monroe managed to get Vanessa out of dangers, but got hit. She went flying in the hair and hit her head" says Estella.

Over the next five hours Ariella, Ericca, and Aria end up falling asleep first. Spencer, Hanna, Caleb, Alison, and Emily arrive. Alison, Emily, Hanna, and Spencer end up falling asleep an hour after they arrive. Only Estella, Caleb, and Ezra remain awake. A doctor walks out and says, "Vanessa Fitz." Ezra gets up, making sure not to wake up a sleeping Aria and walks over to the doctor. "I'm her father" Ezra says. The doctor says, "Her left leg is broken, so she will need to use a wheel chair until it heals. She broke a few ribs, fractured a rib, and bruised the rest. She has a bruise on her head, nothing to worry about. She should be waking up shortly, so you can go see her, room 114."

Ezra walks back over to the group. He gently shakes Aria until she links her eyes open. Aria asks, "What time is it?" Ezra checks his phone and says, "Three in the morning. Vanessa is out of surgery and we can go see her." Aria gets up and they walk to room 114. Estella gets up and walks to the front desk. "What is the statues on Monroe. She came in with Vanessa Fitz" asks Estella. "Let me check" says the women behind the computer. She types something in and then says, "Still in surgery." Estella nods and returns to her seat. Estella feels a pair of arms wrap around her. She looks to her left and sees its her mom Emily. Emily says, "Its ok, Monroe will be ok." Estella ends up falling asleep in Emily's arms.

Meanwhile Aria is sitting in a chair next to Vanessa holding her hand. Ezra is standing next to Aria with his hand on her shoulder. After about fifteen minutes, Vanessa groans and blinks her eyes. "I have the worst hang over ever and I didn't even drink" says Vanessa. Aria breaks out in tears and asks, "How are you feeling? Are you in any pain? Should-" Ezra interrupts Aria and says, "Let the poor girl breath." Vanessa says, "I feel like I was hit by a car." Ezra chuckles and Aria glares at him. Ezra stops laughing and puts his hands up in surrender. "I'll go get a doctor" says Ezra. He walks out of the room. "Can I see Ariella, Ericca, Estella, and Monroe" asks Vanessa. "I can get everyone, but Monroe after a doctor checks on you" says Aria. Vanessa asks, "Why can't I see Monroe mom?"

Before Aria can answer, Ezra and a doctor walk in. Doctor walks over to Vanessa and sticks out his hand. "Hello" says the doctor, "My name is Doctor Peter and I was the one that operated on you." Vanessa shakes his hand. Peter starts checking her vitals and other things. Peter asks, "How are you feeling Vanessa?" "My ribs and leg hurts. Other than that, I'm fine" says Vanessa. Peter writes some things on his clipboard and says, "Everything looks fine. A nurse will be in shortly with some pain killers." Estella, Ariella, and Ericca walk in. There is relief on their faces. A smile breaks out on Peter's face. "Hello Ariella, it's always a pleasure to see you" says Peter. Ariella looks shocked. Ariella says, "Um hi Peter."

After Ezra came into the waiting and told the girls that Vanessa was awake, they followed him to Vanessa's room. Emily, Alison, Spencer, Hanna, and Caleb were left in the waiting room. Alison, Spencer, Hanna, and Caleb were asleep. Emily was awake. She overs a guy ask about Monroe. She looks over and sees him talking to the lady. Emily ends up falling asleep. They all wake up when they hear Monroe's name being called. Emily sees the guy get up and talk to the doctor. The doctor and guy walk off together. "Who was that" asks Hanna. "No idea" says Emily. Spencer says, "Maybe family, a cousin or brother perhaps."

The awkward tension has finally died down in Vanessa's room. Aria, Ezra, and Peter left so it's just Vanessa, Ericca, Ariella, and Estella in the room. "Well, that was awkward" says Vanessa. Ericca asks, "How do you even know him?" Ariella says, "He was my sister's fiancé until she saw us kissing." "I told you not to get involved" says Estella. Vanessa asks, "Was it at least worth it? Was he a good kisser?" "Really" asks Ericca. "What" asks Vanessa, "It was a valid question." Ariella asks, "I'm just glad you're ok, what would we do without you?" Vanessa asks, "Die of boredom. So why isn't Monroe here?" "Monroe was also involved in the hit and run" says Ariella. Vanessa's eyes go wide. "Is she ok" asks Vanessa. Ericca says, "Last we heard, she was still in surgery." "Oh" says Vanessa, "I'm hungry." Estella says, "Of course you are. I'll go get you something to eat."

Estella walks out of the room and starts to walk to the cafeteria. A guy that looks like Monroe and a doctor walk into a room. Estella looks in and stops dead in her tracks. Monroe is in this room. Monroe has a cast on her leg and arm. Her head is bandaged up. The guy and the doctor talk about something. The doctor walks out and Estella pretends to be walking somewhere else. She cracks open the door and looks in. She sees the guy stand over Monroe and look down at her. "Hey MC" the guy says, "The doctor says your very lucky to have survived for this long. You fractured your leg and arm. You also did a number to your ribs. That's the good news. The bad news is you hit your head pretty hard. You were bleeding internally and cracked your head open. You also have a serious concussion. Luckily, they stopped the bleeding and patched your head up. There's a slim chance you will wake up."

Tears start to stream down Estella's face when she hears this. There are tears streaming down the guys face. "I know you can beat the odds, you have done it before. You can't leave me, you still need to introduce me to that girl you're always talking about, your star. I'll be back tomorrow and your parents will be here in two days" the guy says. Estella walks to the other side of the hall and faces the wall. The guy walks out of room and down the hallway. Estella walks into Monroe's room. She walks over and holds her hand. Estella whispers, "Don't leave me Monty, I need you." She leans down and kisses Monroe on the lips.
