Chapter 21 Using Secrets To Stay In Power

They walk out of the library. They walk to the cafeteria and sit at their table. Estella asks, "So who are you girls going with to the dance?" Ericca says while glancing at Ariella, "The person I want to go with doesn't want to go with doesn't want to go with me. So, I asked Helen the other day and she said yes." Estella narrows her eyes and looks between Ariella and Ericca. "Samuel asked me a week ago and said yes" Ariella says. Vanessa says, "I don't think I'm going. No has asked me and I don't really like anyone at the moment." Estella says, "Jake is probably gonna ask me to go with him on our date later today so, that's who I'm going with. You have any idea who Monroe is gonna ask?" Ericca replies while looking at Estella, "No idea considering the person she wants to go with doesn't want to go with her."

"What" Estella asks Ericca. "Nothing" says Ericca, "I still think you shouldn't date Jake or o to the dance with him." "Whatever Ericca" Estella says, "You're not my mom or mother, you can't tell me what to do. Besides, I think you want to remain anonymous to your crush." Ericca looks at her and says, "I don't have a crush on anyone." Estella says, "Right, and there's not someone named E that is using our secrets against us." "Now I'm curious" Ariella says, "Who is Ericca crushing on?" Estella says, "Funny you should ask Ariella-" "Estella" Ericca says interrupting Estella, "A word."

Ericca and Estella get up and walk over to the vending machines. "What the hell" Ericca says. "You have a total crush on Ariella" Estella says, "And if you want that to remain a secret, you better not test me." Ericca glares at Estella and Estella flashes her famous Estella Fields smile. Ericca says, "Fine." "I'm glad we are on the same page" Estella says. They walk back to the table and sit. Vanessa and Estella start to gossip with each other, while Ericca and Ariella start having a casual conversation.

They stop talking when they hear Kaitlyn walking into the cafeteria. Estella stands up and starts walking over to her. Vanessa asks, "What is Estella doing now?" "How should I know" Ericca asks. "You're her cousin" Vanessa answers. Ericca replies, "Just because I'm her cousin doesn't mean I know what she is doing. Half the time I have no idea what she is up to." Ariella says, "Maybe instead of trying to figure out Estella, we should make sure she doesn't do anything stupid." Ariella, Vanessa, and Ericca stand up walk after Estella.

"Four eyes" Estella says. Kaitlyn looks in their direction. Kaitlyn asks, "Come to surrender?" "Actually" Estella says, "To discuss this rumor I heard about you." Kaitlyn asks, "What rumor?" Estella leads Kaitlyn out of the cafeteria and over to the lockers. Vanessa, Ariella, and Ericca follow them. Estella says, "This really interesting rumor that you forced yourself on your step-brother." Kaitlyn goes white. Estella just smirks. Kaitlyn says, "Bu-but how, no one but him and me know about that." Estella says, "All you need to know is that if you go to the police, the video goes viral." "Fine, you won this round. You will pay for this" Kaitlyn says. "Ya ya ya, move along four eyes" Estella says.

Kaitlyn walks off. Estella says, "See, I told you we would be fine." Ariella says, "Make sure you don't lose that flash drive." "I say we ditch the rest of the day and have some fun" Estella says. Ariella says, "We can't just ditch school." Vanessa says, "I'm down." "Of course, you are" Ariella says. "I need a break from all the craziness, count me in" Ericca says. "You to, really" Ariella says. Estella, Vanessa, and Ericca look at Ariella. Ariella groans and says, "Fine."

They ended up going to the mall and shopping until school ended. After that they grabbed some food and went to the hospital to see Monroe. They arrive at the hospital and walk into Monroe's room. Monroe is on the phone with someone. Monroe says, "Why can't you drop your stupid swimming career for a day.... yes, it is stupid... that's not the point...... the point is why can't you come and visit your kid that has been in the hospital for like a week and half.... if not, you why can't.... but... hello, hello?" Monroe throws her phone at the wall and runs her hand throw her hair. "I hate you" Monroe says.

"Monroe" Estella says softly. Monroe head snaps tot eh door and she sees Estella, Ericca, Vanessa, and Ariella standing there with a bag. "Um" Monroe says, "How long have you been standing there and how much did you hear?" Ariella says, "A few seconds. Not much, just that you wanted someone to coma and see you." Estella picks up Monroe's phone and hands it to her. "Thanks" Monroe says smiling. "No problem" Estella says, "You want to talk about what just happened?" Monroe shakes head and says, "Not particularly." "We brought food, let's eat" Vanessa says.

Ericca and Ariella say, "Vanessa!" "What" Vanessa asks. Monroe chuckles and says, "Its fine. I could really go for something that isn't hospital food." They start eating. "So much better than hospital food" Monroe says. Ariella pulls out some champagne and five glasses. Monroe raises an eyebrow and asks, "What's this for?" Estella says as Ariella pours some into each glass, "The get out of jail free card." They all raise their glass and clink them together. They all take a drink.

"So, I'm getting out tomorrow" Monroe says. "When are you coming back to school" Ariella asks. "The day after tomorrow" Monroe answers. "And from that phone call earlier, I assume you are gonna be all alone." Ariella says. "A friend is gonna be helping me out" Monroe says. "So why do you have that video" Estella asks. "Monroe says, "I have my reasons. Did Kaitlyn know where the video came from?" Ericca says, "She has no idea that you gave it to us."

Estella phone goes off. Estella checks it and says, "Sorry I have to go and get ready for my date with Jake." "Wait, Jake Stock" Monroe says. "Yes, who else would it be" Estella asks. "Jake from state farm" Vanessa mutters. "Was she wearing khakis" Monroe asks. "Well she's a he so..." Ericca says. Vanessa, Ericca, and Monroe start laughing while Estella glares. "Laugh all you want, but I have a date to go get ready for and then the dance" Estella says. Monroe stops laughing and says, "But I thought that-" Estella walks over to Monroe and whispers in her ear, "Remember your place which is just practice for the real thing." Estella walks to the door and says, "Bye" and walks out.
