"She's the one?" Charles questioned Erik.
"She's the one," Erik confirmed. "But I don't want to hurt her."
"You'd rather die than hurt someone you love," Charles nodded in understanding. "Go talk to (Y/N), ask her out for dinner, take things slow, old friend, and don't worry about hurting her. I know you won't."
A few months later, you and Erik were lounging on the sofa together, him telling you about the conversation with Charles that had kickstarted him into asking you out to dinner, and eventually leading to your current situation.
"Babe, look at this," you grinned, showing him the line from the book you were reading.
"What about it?" Erik asked softly, looking at the words with furrowed brows.
"Nothing," you shrugged, still grinning, you tossed the book away. "I just wanted an excuse to do this." You kissed him softly at first, but then Erik dominated the kiss, turning it rough, needy, and passionate.
