Yelping out of his sleep, Erik glared at the fox that stood on his chest, barking at him like he did every morning; a few months ago, you had brought home a small red fox cub, and with your mutation of being able to communicate and bond with animals, you were allowed to keep it.

"Fuck off," Erik grumbled, taking one of his pillows and limply attempting to waft the small blur of orange from him, but instead, the fox bit down on the pillow and began tugging it, playfully growling and sinking his claws into the duvet. "Aw, come on, Red, you'll wake (Y/N)."

"Who'll wake me?" You yawned, stirring beside Erik and raising a lazy brow at the fox and your boyfriend. "Why are you playing tug of war?"

"He started it!" Erik defended, yanking the pillow away from the mischievous animal and glaring at him.

"From what it looks like," you began, chuckling, "This is all your fault."

"It's not," he mumbled, begrudgingly patting the fox on the head while you tried to stifle your laughter. "This isn't funny!"

"Red," you whistled, and your four legged, red friend bounded over to you.

"You did that on purpose!" Erik exclaimed, huffing and rolling his eyes.

"Sure I did," you teased, carding a hand through the fox's fur and silently communicating with the animal. "Hold up, she said what now?"

"Who said what?" Your boyfriend furrowed his brows and watched you with a slight suspicion.

"Oh, nothing," you waved him off. "Just, Red told me something about Charles getting into some trouble with some woman because of us."

"Is it bad?"

"No, it's just a bit of gossip."
