You and Charles were sat together, enjoying your weekly tea, something the two of you had done for a while, when you noticed a shift in the atmosphere.
"He's a mess without you," Charles sighed. "Erik, I mean."
"I know who you meant," you told him. "Charles, he told me he wanted space. That I'm doing, isn't it?"
"It is," the professor nodded. "I think you should just have a little chat with him, though."
"Alright," you caved, knowing Charles would be on your back about it if you didn't. "I'll go have a word."
You found Erik amongst a heap of metal, creating things beyond beautiful, and suddenly found it hard to speak.
"Charles wanted me to come talk to you," you called, Erik turned around almost instantly, but his gaze turned to the ground. "I know, I told him you wanted your space, but you know what he's like."
"What did Charles say to you?" Erik growled, the familiar sound of metal bending echoing throughout the air.
"That you're a mess without me," you told him, walking close enough for you to place your hand on his chest. "If you want me gone, I'll go."
"I don't want you to go," he admitted, looking down at you.
"Can you tell me why you're pushing me away then?"
"Because I can't lose you, I can't watch you..."
"B-but you love me... Don't you?"
"More than anything."
"Erik," you held onto him tightly. "Don't push me away. You're more likely to lose me if you do. I don't want to lose you, either... Alright?"
