12 - "Don't die on me - please."
---
Sitting beside your bed, Charles gripped your pale hand and attempted to blink away the tears that augmented in his eyes."Darling," he croaked. "Don't die on me - please."
For weeks now, Charles had been trying to get you to respond, be it with his powers or with his words, and every time, it was the same. Silence, the same steady beeping of monitors, the irking sound of the clock ticking, seconds turning to minutes, minutes to hours, hours to days, days to weeks. Strings upon strings of weeks."Are you..." The Doctor sighed; she had always hated this part of her job, she wanted to save everyone, she tried her best to. But not everyone can be saved. "Mister Xavier, your wife..."
"I pray," Charles sobbed. "She'll make it, won't she?"
Resting her hand on Charles' shoulder, the doctor shook her head solemnly and tried not to cry as she looked at a husband, watching his wife die; with as much of a strong voice as she could muster, the doctor said, "I am so sorry, Mister Xavier."
