I groaned as soon as I opened my eyes. Of course I was going to wake up with a damn headache when I only had a couple of hours of sleep.
But today was really fun. Just the few hours of yesterday bought me and Rita really close. She told me about how hurt she was and how life bought her to her knees way more than myself. Knowing that she was a victim of pain caused by parents too hurt me as well. The difference between me and her is that my pain was made by the death of my both parents but for her, the pain was cause by the rejection of her dad and how much he didn't like her presence at all.
She told me that the two parents she has now are not even her real parents. Her mother, whom is my boss, doesn't give birth. At first her dad was fine with it and told her that he wouldn't want to lose her for the world. He told her that he would rather live with her than have any kids and she understood that but she wanted to her children, even for her own love of being a mother herself. So they adopted Rita. The more Rita grew up, the more she saw the two people that she called parents grew apart. She would see how much her dad changed the way he treated her mother. He went from kissing her every night to pushing her out of his way to leave the house after a long fight they had.
Rita was watching all that. She was watching how much her dad was never treating her like his own kid and out of nowhere, he blamed Rita's mom for not being able to get him the only thing he asked from her, the only reason he married her, kids. And when his mother used Rita as an excuse for having kids he would laugh and say that she's not my kid.
On the other hand, her mother never changed towards her, she always loved her and treated her like her own kid.
Marring Rita's mother, the father had a condition; to leave her job. Because of how much she loved him, she left it for him to be happy, but after the whole problem of Rita and the lack of love he started to have, she regretted leaving her job. It was so hard for her to ask him for money to buy anything she wanted and even when she was brave enough to ask, he would most of the time refuse to give her with the excuse "I have no reason spending the money that I work for all day on a girl that isn't my daughter."
Hearing that basically everyday took away a lot of Rita's confidence as she told me but the more she grew up, the more she didn't care along with her mother too.
Since he never wanted to give her money and she really was in need sometimes when it came to Rita's school or food for the house, specially when he started to sleep outside the house and sometimes even come house only once or twice a week, she decided to start a small business. She was the best cook, Rita said. She used that to make food for people and sell it to have money. She had a lot of customers buying it from her and requesting her to make them food when they had wedding or partied or important meeting.
Along with all that, the presence of her husband didn't matter to her anymore. Her business was taking so much of her time to even care about him or even realize that he left the house and took all his stuff. She didn't bother looking for him because she knew that he left because he wanted to leave and she wouldn't beg him to stay against his well.
The more successful the business became, the more people would send requests to her, the more the idea of having her own restaurant started to grow in her head. It was a dream to her to make her own restaurant and at that point, she never saw why not try. She had enough money from what she made by far so she started with a small restaurant that only had a couple of people visiting a week to having over millions of customers a week.
Rita grew up along with all that, starting to be mature enough to understand everything, her father was already gone. It hurt a little bit how much he never wanted her and never treated her or even took her as his daughter but she managed to take her mother's love the only love she needs. She would help her grow her business first before her restaurant. She was always supporting her mother and pushing her to do best. She was the first one working in the restaurant along with her mother when she opened it until it because more known and people started to apply for jobs there.
