When I finally walked out of my class, I huffed. This teacher is really boring and I barely understand him anyways. He talks a lot about the exact same thing and it only ends up being boring.
Walking to my locker, I tried to push my notebook inside of my bag but it didn't want to slide in. I groaned and pushed it a little hard so somehow it fell on the floor. Right before I get, another hand grabbed it from the floor.
"Be careful." I looked up to see Anthony. I gulped and took the notebook from his hand.
"Thank you." I pushed my hair away from my eyes and gave up trying to put it in my bag so I just closed it.
"Ready?" He asked then slid his hand in his pockets. I blinked.
"For what?"
"To show you the library."
"Oh." I felt dumb. "Uhm, yeah." I forgot that I even asked him that. I pushed my hair away again and nodded. "Just let me put my books in my locker."
I opened my locker and he was right behind me. I felt like I was watched but I enjoyed it. I knew he was looking at my every move and for the first time, I managed to keep my moves mature without dropping or spilling anything on me. I placed the books in my locker, took the books I need to study in and closed it.
"Let's go." When I said that, what I was expecting is him showing me the place of the library but that wasn't the case. He didn't only show me the library, he walked in with me, took my list and searched for all my books then gave them to me. He did it all without me even asking for it. I was just standing behind him, following him like a lost puppy.
"Here, this is the last one." He handed me the fifth book.
We walked together to pay and he stood next to me, watching me like I was an interesting movie playing in front of him.
We finally walked out with all the books that I needed to buy and walked to my locker to leave them there. And for some reasons, he walked with me. We were talking though so it wasn't as awkward as I thought it would be. Maybe because he was the one asking questions about me and there wasn't any silence between the words because the questions he asks and I answer, he responds to it himself without me even asking him. It was like he was forcing the conversation to continue and I enjoyed it.
"Nice, nice." He said when I shut the locker. "So what now?" He asked. Was he going to follow me home too?
"I will just go home and get ready to work tonight." I said, nodding along with him. "Maybe study a little." I looked at my phone screen. "Actually, I won't have much time to study."
"Why? Didn't you say that you start work at 6pm?" He asked, frowning.
"Yeah but it takes about thirty minutes walking and I have to get ready too and stuff so I will basically learn the title of the book if I decided to study." I said and he laughed, louder for a joke that wasn't even funny.
"If I drive you you'll be able to learn the first page." He smirked. I was taken back from how slick he was with his offer and I had to bite down my lip to hide my wild smile at how smart he was. "I mean it's better than the title." He giggled along with me. "I don't even know why I'm asking. Let's go." He held my hand and dragged me behind me to his car. I didn't have time to understand what's happening or even think about it and say yes or no.
He opened the door for me, waited for me to get in then closed it. His car was way too nice for someone his age. He then jumped from on top of me in the roofless car to get next to me in the driver seat. I giggled.
"Easier." He winked and started the car. He was crazy but it was enjoyable to watch.
The drive wasn't boring but it wasn't also interesting. It was all full of me explaining the directions to get to my house and I wasn't mad at it. It was all I needed anyways. And it was more fun when it started raining again and he had to close the roof because he was complaining about his hair getting wet. It's funny how he cared about his hair more than I do about mine.
Anthony was becoming a friend to me, the first friend I make here and it was making me happy. I didn't make any friends that were that nice to me other than Rita but knowing someone at college that I could go to whenever I need help and whenever I need someone was making me less nervous about college.
He finally parked in front of my building and smiled. "I live like twenty minutes walking from here."
"Really?" As much as I hate it when people say this word when I'm telling them something, as much as I somehow can't stop myself from saying it.
"Yeah." He nodded.
"Thanks for the ride, Anthony. It really means a lot." I smiled.
"Saved you from the rain huh?" He teased. I giggled and nodded and then there was a staring silence again. "Give me your phone."
I frowned.
"Just give it to me." He dismissed my confusion and took the phone from my hand. "God, how does that thing work." I know that my phone wasn't the best phone or the phone that anyone would want but the only reason why I bought it was because I needed to call places to ask for jobs and I don't have a house phone and I wasn't always going to go out to call on the payphone so I decided to buy a phone and since I don't really need it, I bought the cheapest. And he was making fun of me.
"I know my phone is not the most expensive or an iPhone or whatever but at least it does what it needs to do." I said. My tone was full of anger but I wasn't angry at him. I was just angry that....I don't know why I was angry.
"I know." He simply said, looking at me with them innocent eyes and an innocent look and blinked, silently asking for forgiveness. "A-Anyways, I put my phone number down so if you ever need me just call me...or text?" He probably didn't know if that phone can text but it can. He called himself from my phone to have my phone number then handed it back to me.
"I will." I nodded. "Thank you again for the ride." I said, opening the car door.
I signed while walking to my apartment building. Was I too harsh on him?
I know that I was angry for not having much more and him having it all. I wasn't envying him or being jealous of him but he made me feel like he was better than me and it caused my angry to come to life. I wanted to apologize for my yelling at the car but I waved the thought away as soon as I got home.
I didn't have much time to actually get some rest then get ready for work so I only decided to take a shower then get ready.
I did just that before leaving for work and to my luck, today was one of the hardest days and busiest days at the restaurant since I started working in it.
Author note:
Do you think Bella is exaggerating? Anthony didn't mean to be mean but it sounded mean to Bella and offended her. Maybe she felt lower than Anthony which was probably not so good.
What do you think she will do?
