"I'm moving in with Archie."
That's it, I'm done for. There's no way in hell that I'm going to be able to afford this apartment's rent on my own. This is New York City—everything's expensive, which is why you need someone to stick by your side so you could both help each other face financial problems. This was the reason Veronica and I shared an apartment, because both our parents kicked us out right after highschool because we wanted to leave town and we were left with nothing.
When we got our jobs as waitresses at a café near our apartment, somehow, we were able to survive in this big town with the salary we were earning. We even got the chance to go to university and earn a college degree, and now, both of us picked up grad school. We're in our mid-twenties, we're powerful, independent and beautiful women—we're unstoppable.
Nothing can possibly destroy us.
That is, until Veronica decided to move in with her boyfriend Archie.
Archie lived nearby and was finished with grad school, given that he was two years older than us. Veronica met him just before he graduated, and they really seemed to hit it off.
"Ronnie, you can't just leave me here!"I protested, wanting to burst into tears. If she leaves me alone, the economy will eat me up, and I'll be forced to move back to Riverdale, where everything is much cheaper. And I don't want that, because I lef Riverdale for a reason, and that was to build my own life in New York. What will they think once they see me crawling back into town while my best friend's living her best life with her boyfriend.
"I'm not leaving you alone, Betty. Yes, we may not be roomies anymore, but worry not, my blonde bestie—"Veronica spoke with enthusiasm, holding my hands.
"I got you a new one!"

"I'm moving in with Veronica."
What the fúck is this? Is he being serious right now?
"You have got to be fúcking kidding me!"I groaned, my voice coming out a lot angrier than I intended it to be. Archie, on the other hand, maintained himself calm as he sighed, shaking his head slightly. "I knew you'd have this reaction."He muttered to himself, and I turned around, ready to punch my best friend as my fists clenched.
Archie has been my best friend since forever—we grew up next to each other, and we always stuck up for one another. We moved to New York for grad school, and now that we've graduated, he started working as a musician, playing gigs wherever he could, and i became a writer. In fact, I was in the middle of the process of publishing my first book.
"I'm ready to take my relationship with Veronica to the next level, Jug."He tried explaining, but I immediately responsed. "And you think moving in with her is taking things to the next level?"I asked, scoffing.
"Yeah, I do."
Archie sighed, both of us staying silent after his answer. He's the one who always had time for a relationship—I had a few flings here and there, but I never really went the long way with any of them. Maybe that was the reason why I don't understand his point of view in this situation.
