Part 3 of "You must be Betty"

❄️❄️❄️

|| THIRD PERSON ||

Week Two...

Betty didn't hear the front door open.

Jughead locked the door after he stepped in, exhausted after a long day's work. He's had enough of the head editor of his novel. He had a scowl on his face as he dropped his backpack on the floor, collapsing straight onto the couch and, reaching for the remote, switched on the flat screen.

Betty was in the kitchen, her headphones blasting music into her ears as she cooked her own recipe of roast beef and baked macaroni, which she planned for their dinner. She had been home for over three hours now, her shift at the café she worked in ended at three in the afternoon. She didn't notice Jughead come in.

Jughead's had a lot of bad days, most especially at his work, but he rarely brought his frustration back home ever since Betty moved in. He wasn't so keen on showing her that side of him, the Jughead who had major temper issues and needed to go to counselling and anger management therapies. But today, he couldn't keep it to himself anymore.

When Betty noticed Jughead, it was when she was finished cooking dinner, a little past six in the evening. She had unplugged her headphones and was carrying the roast beef to the dining table when she did, noticing that he looked tired than usual and a little grumpy. She kept her mouth shut and continued setting the table, thinking of what to say to him.

Once the table was set she walked slowly towards him, glancing at the show he was currently watching–the Weather Channel. But he never watches that channel.

"I thought you hated that channel."Betty spoke up, interrupting the silence between them as she sat down beside him, eyes flickering from the flat screen to his blank face. "Why the change of heart?"She asked.

"I'm trying to find a weather that can match how pissed I am right now."Jughead sarcastically replied, keeping on an expressionless look as he stared straight onto the show. But, deep in his mind, he knew that Betty wasn't entertained by his answer at all. "I'm not even paying attention to it. I still don't like this channel."He sighed, taking back his previous answer. Betty gave a slight nod and took the remote, turning the flat screen off.

"What's with the temper, Jug?"Betty asked, her tone concerned, and not sounding like she was scolding him. She was still gentle with her words and the way she said it, but the sternness in his eyes said otherwise. Jughead's eyes quickly glanced at her, afraid of her, of what she'll think of him now that he's starting to show his true colors.

"Please, Jughead. Talk to me, so that I'll know how I could help."She said, placing a hand on his thigh. They've done it so many times, and both of them have felt sparks ignite from it but have ignored it. They both shook off the thought of being together, thinking that their actions toward each other where platonic and that their feelings were one-sided. But they weren't.

They didn't know that.

"It's just stress from work."Jughead honestly replied, finally letting his guard down, his facade breaking down as he started releasing his anger—not at Betty, though. "I dismissed my head editor."Betty gasped at his confession.
